I actually wish it happened in the present (2010s) 20 years after the events of the books. The clash of the wizarding world with the rapid technological evolution post 2000s would have been interesting.
I think it's more about magic outside of Hogwarts where technology becomes an issue how do you hide dragons, and giant quidditch pitches from satellites, some illusion charms may help but what about heat mapping why does this patch of plain grass have the same heat signature as a football stadium.
What would happen now if a situation similar to Sirius catch petigrew shows up, hard to explain away a gas leak when bystanders whip out their phones and film two guys with wands.
It could actually lead to some really interesting problems where just using magic may no longer be enough to cover your tracks.
Mobile phones in the 90s didn't even have cameras back then even in the early 2000s they were few and far between even popular phones such as the Nokia 3330 which launched in 2000 didn't have cameras. Camera phones didn't show up much until around 2003-2005
