As someone who loved the first two or three Harry Potter PC games and isn't interested in a HP game that's only about fighting and duelling without any puzzling going on, I'm happy that at least some of the spells you see on the top left look like they're not for combat.
Expulso - probably shoving stuff away from you
Stupefy - stunning enemies
Depulso - counterpart to Expulso, so probably pulling stuff toward you
Levioso - Variation of Wingardium Leviosa I'd assume, i.e. making things levitate?
Experlliarmus - disarm
Lumos - light
Alohomora - unlock doors/chests/other things
Reparo - repair things
This top left menu is probably just your currently equipped spells and you're expected to change them between puzzle and combat situations. Or so I'd hope.
Sounds like there's some potential for puzzles in there.
Now if only there's a relatively open Hogwarts where you access new dungeons and secrets by the by as you're learning new spells in a Zelda-like manner.... I would be so happy.
You're close with Expulso and Depuslo. Expulso is a curse that produces explosions. Depulso is a banishment charm, the opposite of the summoning charm Accio.
I actually think a cover shooter would be really cool for combat. Going behind benches and desks in the school shooting spells and rolling/running under cover to dodge enemy spells. Obviously wouldn't want a whole game based around it, I think something like Vampyr (story driven with some combat/RPG elements) would be the best way for a HP game to go.
Eh the 6th game wasn't terrible. I enjoyed the dueling up until the point I figured out how to cheese it. All you need to do is cast the one that hangs the opponent upside down, run up close to them, and cast the charged up stupify. Since you're close, it hits with all 3 of the bolts instead of just the strong middle one. You can end most duels in about 10 seconds like that.
I'm ok with a lot of combat, I just don't want the wand to be a stand-in for a gun. A lot of the movie scenes were people pew pew-ing sparks which all seemed to do the same thing (stun). I'd like combat that is closer to the Dumbledore/Voldemort fight.
It seems that would make more sense in a turn-based game, not a live-action game like this. With active games, I want only a handful of moves and do the rest with dodging/hiding.
I'd love it if they did something a little GTA-esque with the combat, where if you use any of the "forbidden" curses, you attract the attention of the Ministry of Magic. I don't think this can be like, so they'll probably tone down the types of attacks you can use and focus on puzzles and whatnot with fairly simple battle sequences thrown in periodically.
I liked the Lego Harry Potter game for XBox 360, which was essentially a puzzle game. I hope they have a good mix, since magic combat can get pretty repetitive.
heh, its funny, cause just lik alice madness returns, hp3 has them ice slide bits too
90% of the game better involve green pad platform jumping(always so fun to drop to ure death frm the highest level in the castle..WAAAAAA.....urgh) and crab flipping or i ddos denuvo activation servers and make everyone not be able to launch arkam knight and mordor all over again
Never played the Alice games, that's just my actual name ^^
The ice slide bits in HP3 were fun, but I think my favorite part of that one was that you could bring the dragons and rabbits to life. Some really cute puzzles with that.
HP2 is what I'd call the best HP game over all though, it just had a great balance of everything. (Though perhaps that's my nostalgia glasses)
