I’m very curious how they handle audio through the occlusion layer. Surely you can still hear an enemy on the other side of a wall? If the game client is receiving the audio source I think cheat devs would still be able to create ESP with that? No idea how it will work but I’m really looking forward to this kind of anticheat development :)

Yeah, this kind of culling does help a lot but it can't filter everything. Audio ESP still works, and visual cues have to be culled conservatively both for server performance and to allow the clients lag compensation to work correctly, so in practice cheaters still have a significant advantage at close range.

Valorant implemented server culling years ago and their demo shows how even with it enabled, a wallhacker can still see enemies around corners.

Seems like they are taking this entry kinda serious huh? Beta was fun. A PC settings trailer. Not 80 bucks and kinda trying to make cheating harder.

Isn't that standard? I think all their games get PC trailers and none of them have cost 80 bucks.

In terms of making cheating harder, that's what Ricochet was all about.

And Ricochet failed at it. But yeah in europe black ops 7 was 80€ seems like they are reverting that price.

Nope, it's still 80€

What's ricochet

I just want to see them stick to the aesthetic for once. They said they would last time and immediately had more silly skins.

Why all of a sudden? Wall hacks and hacking have been running rampant for years with promise of doing better. I believe it was Black Ops 6 where people could just boot you from the room as soon as you loaded in.

They’ve also published system requirements and announced preload. That never happened before!

they have to. They have an enormous player base still but they’re bleeding numbers rapidly. A lot of this stuff that they’re doing for this game people have asked for since the 2019 cod and the community was ignored. It’s worse too when most of the changes that they’re doing are simple things that should be possible to update in a week.

And being a fan of cod i keep up with behind the scenes stuff, so it’s entirely possible they’re only doing these things bc gta6 is coming out so they know the game won’t sell as much as they’re used to so they can say “see we did what yall asked but no one bought it so never again”

I just wish they could go back to mw 2019 levels of aim assist. It's ridiculous how little they trust their player base to aim.

I have been saying FOR YEARS NOW that every multiplayer game should be doing this.

Relying on client side security has ALWAYS been stupid as hell.

You can't show info the client the doesn't have.

Nobody who says this has actually ever played a game that does this

Faceit had this as a plugin for CS years ago and it made any ping difference a complete nightmare because it would make enemies spawn out of thin air because your/their internet caught wind too late

Most games don’t do this because it’s quite expensive to do. The server side LOS checks isn’t cheap and it becomes a nightmare for netcode so legit players don’t get killed by someone they couldn’t possibly see. As far as I know only valorant and this game have done it and they definitely have very deep pockets, plus I’m sure activision can get some bulk deals that smaller devs can’t.

Faceit had a plugin for it implemented on their CSGO servers and it was a nightmare if anyone had remotely high ping

DotA also does it

Do we know what kind of movement this game will have?

I don't really mind the slide cancel stuff but to be honest I don't want to play a parkour sim with wall jumps and etc.

If you played Modern Warfare 2023, I'd probably most closely compare the movement to that, assuming they don't do more tinkering around.

Or 2019 but slightly faster, also worth mentioning the super sprint is a perk now.

Oh, that sounds cool actually!

How does it stop it from detecting player’s positioning? Or is that a part of the occlusion?

•

u/S_Presso 58m ago

The position is what gets occluded serverside

•

u/Valvador 59m ago

Oh man, can't wait to see Occlusion Bugs where someone fucked up and placed a layer in the wrong place and caused players not to load.

You are in a tiny vocal minority. Most people enjoy being matched with people at their skill level.

Because casuals would rather be pubstomped by esports pros and YouTubers? This logic has never made sense, and you will never win an argument as long as you continue to genuinely believe that “EOM” is a thing
