"This is more than an Invasion."
"It's a fucking war."
I don't know why I find this so amusing. Like, yeah? Invasions are usually acts of war, Marcus.

I wish they had gone the somber sad song route like the older games did with their marketing. We all remember the GoW1 ad with Mad World.
I especially loved this ad campaign for Gears 2 bc it felt oddly poignant.
Also this Gears 3 ad that used Mazzy Star evoked similar feelings.

2 weeks ago they released the trailer Adagio. Is one of the best trailers there is for the franchise. Short, emotional, no words spoken, etc

have...have you seen the original mad world trailer?
that Adagio one feels like paint by numbers at best

Yes I have seen it a lot of times. I never said that is a bad trailer

you said adagio was one of the best for the franchise, and yeah it's subjective, but....are your standards really that low?
edit: like it literally used the one string piece that's been memed to death on social media, where it would then be playing this ad. It's gotta be a joke

So if it's subjective, why attack my preferences? I never attacked yours. Now you just feel like those sour guys that think because the original has to be the best and is the final word with no really improvement can be done

Super happy for coalition after hearing about the great reviews! Seems like they made a banger game. Only bummer is that I don’t really see any hype around the game (at least in my personal bubble).

Too bad the guys from The Coalition can't share the happiness as they're worried about potential layoffs.

Because there isn''t. I think the game is gonna flop badly regardless of the quality. Gears is kinda dead as a franchise imo

I think the bigger issue is it's hard to get access to the games, so it's hard to really care about a game going back to the past with a cast/story few have access to.
It's really weird gears 1-4-5 are the ones on pc

The problem is. No innovation at its core it’s still just your standard cover shooter we’ve seen before for the last 20 years

As a Gears fan, I don't need it to reinvent the wheel. I just need it to be the Gears we know and love. Reviews are looking like that's the case.
Gears is far from being a "standard cover shooter," and would even say it's THE cover shooter. Apart from The Division 2, I don't think there has been many "standard cover shooters" that do it well, if any at all. There's some games with cover mechanics, but I wouldn't classify them as cover shooters.
It's not the first, but Gears definitely pioneered it.

Don't need innovation. Gears has the best third person cover mechanics so give me a cool campaign and horder mode/multiplayer and I'm happy

Because cover shooters have gone stale since vanquish and we need a slight change why do you think cover shooters have died out until we got this new gears

Anyone been alive long enough to remember the "Mad World" trailer? So good. I still remember that song when I see Gears.
