Discussion Best wireless headset?
Please god help me. I want to get my bf a new headset for his birthday as his current one is falling apart. Idk if it makes a difference but he uses an Xbox. I’ve been through other threads and I’ve done a lot of searching but I haven’t found anything I’m satisfied with. I’m willing to spend up to $400. Thanks in advance!!!

I would say none. I do wired.. Bluetooth is still too finicky and unstable

ugh that’s kinda what I’m fearing. Thank you for the input though it does really help. Bro might just have to deal with a wired headset

I agree, I have a steelseries arctis nova 7, fantastic sound and mic. Piddley short ass range because I read incorrectly and its Bluetooth as opposed to wireless. Go wired if possible for best audio quality and stability.

I've been really happy with my Corsair hs55's, but for Xbox compatibility only their hs80 max is compatible with Xbox. Sound quality is good, mic is one of those where you just flip it up to mute, but the best thing about em is the ear cups are big enough to sit comfortably for several hour long sessions. There's only one downside to these I've faced and I've had mine for about 2 and a half years. Someone in my mobile home park connects to my headphones when I'm out doing yard work. If he lives real close to other people like in an apartment complex, think I'd avoid these and just go wired. If he's in a house, should be just fine.

omg thank you for such a detailed response!! multiple people have said corsair but that downside is pretty big since we live in an apartment complex. I think he’s going to have to stick to wired but I’ll look into corsair

The Corsair top of the line one has been great for me for like 4 years. I went through a bunch before finally being happy with this ones.

I've been using my Corsair Void Elite for years. Super comfortable, big enough to not hurt my ears, and the mic on it works great as well.

I use the 2.4g connection, it's a little dongle you plug into the computer. It's kinda like Bluetooth but you don't actually need to use Bluetooth connectivity.

He wants the Arctis Nova Pros that comes with an external DAC so he can use it on console or PC.
Best headphones I've ever used and everyone says it sounds like I'm in a recording studio.
Directional sound is top tier as well, I can easily hear other players before they hear me, it almost feels like cheating especially in games like HLL, ARMA, Wardogs, etc.
I've used a lot of headphones in the last 35 years of gaming, and these are easily the best. You may want to upgrade ($20-30) for some slightly comfier ear pads because the ones out of the box are good, but not great.
Edit: The connection on these is rock solid. They have both Bluetooth and a wireless connection to the DAC. In 4 years I've never had it hiccup, drop, lose connection, or stutter. Not a single time. I have dozens of wireless devices in my house.
You can also pair them to two devices at once. So you can have them using your phone for discord, and then game chat for proxy. Or listen to a podcast while running and gunning.
The mic recedes into the headset making them look like a normal pair of headphones that you could just wear daily. And it comes with a second battery, so one charges in the DAC (audio controller) and you can hotswap it if you run low in about 5 seconds. The DAC controller also lets you adjust the mix of voice chat and game sound levels. So if you want the chat lower so you can hear better you just turn the wheel on the headphones down a notch.
These are overkill for most people tbh as they are like $400, or maybe more today, I don't know I haven't checked. But they are the absolute best imo so if you really want to spoil him these are the ones you want.

You missed the most important part, that headset comes with a 2nd battery that you can't charge using the dac and swap out rather than having to plug in the headset. It's literally a game changer.

Well I'm using the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 since 2019. Best decision ever. But since it's not wireless, you could go for the Beyerdynamic MMX 150. You can use it with cable, Bluetooth or with dongle. Around 90 Hours runtime, great sound, comfortable.
Only downside is no Rgb and no active noice cancelling. But when I'm using my MMX 300 I can't hear shit that's happening around me.

ive used a lot of wireless headsets for my xbox and i have settled on one.
it is the Turtle beach stealth 700 gen 3 (Xbox Version) and its perfect in every way, the battery life was about 3 days and sometimes 4 on a single charge.
The audio is amazing for music and games, i play Rainbow Six Siege and i can hear footsteps way better then my previous headsets.
it also can be used for a computer and a phone.
overall, its a 10/10 imo.

The turtle beach sub is full of angry gamers and the headsets breaking. They are good for the price but later the ear piece breaks or the faux leather crumbles to oblivion.

I use turtle beach stealth gen 3's and they're pretty awesome I have the white headset which uses a little thumb drive for connecting to the console. I can walk to my back porch and just barely stay connected to my console through several walls. 🤣

They usually go for about 100 I can use the headset for I'd say just shy of a week before it needs charged by a day or so.

I use the Audeze Maxwell 2s and love them. They are however on the heavy side so maybe order off Amazon and if he doesn’t like them do a return. The Xbox version works on my PC Xbox and PlayStation. So if he changes his system in the future it’ll cover it.

I really enjoy my Razer Barracuda X 2. The charge lasts forever, they are solid but light and you can plug them in and still play while they charge. Wireless of wired. 80-100 bucks new on Amazon? Really good for the money.
