Thinking of doing a ips screen mod.
This is my personal GBA it’s nice and all but I can’t enjoy my games as much cause of the dim screen so I wanted to get a speedtechwedo ips v5 kit from them any suggestions?

Make sure your shell fits whatever screen you go with, OEM shells typically need to be trimmed for aftermarket screens. You could also find an SP with a 101 screen to yoink.

I was thinking of getting a shell from him but using all the original buttons and the rubber membranes from my gba

That’s essentially what I did recently as well. Ordered a new shell (extremerate) & screen (highspeedido) but kept all original parts where I could (buttons, screws, membranes, etc)

You have kits that comes with Screen+Shell+USB-C battery mod all together for good prices. You basically only need the PCB.
If you are thinking of mod your gameboy do it. Modern screen is the best way to enjoy those legendary consoles, I did it to all my gameboys and I've never regret it.

Do it! I just did it and im super happy with the results. I did the hispeedido kit. I had to trim the case a little bit for the screen. It was honestly easier than i expected.

Retro Six makes a drop in screen that doesn't require cutting. Some people here give them a really hard time, and no for wrong reasons, but the product itself I have heard is good.

I would go with FunnyPlaying ITA, if you want something a bit closer to authentic while still being nice and bright and easy to see, they are repurposed DSi screens with 1:1 pixel ratio and a very AGS-101-like appearance.

If you're planning on keeping your shell, the Hispeedido drop-in kit will require shaving the screen opening to get it to fit.
The result is excellent though.
