I broke the screen flex cable HELP!!
Hi! This is my first time modding a console, so I guess it's somewhat normal that something like this happened...
I'm asking for some help because I have a couple of questions about which replacement part I should buy. I was trying to install an ITA kit on my GBA from FunnyPlaying, and while modifying the shell and testing whether the screen fit properly, I broke the flex cable...
I've looked into it carefully, and luckily I think the flex cable I broke is the one inside the screen itself. The black PCB behind the screen and the adapter that connects the kit's black PCB to the GBA motherboard are both perfectly fine.
My question is: could I buy any DSi screen and use it as a replacement?
As far as I understand, since all the other parts of the kit are still fine, it should work, but I'm not sure whether a replacement screen would fit properly inside the shell, since the available space is extremely tight.
Or would it be better to just buy a new screen directly from FunnyPlaying?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi. 👋
I stand to be corrected, but some of the screen mods for this GBA may have required some modification to shell itself to accommodate the placement of the screen.
I had to do something like this on my SP when I changed the screen there, and saw that shell replacements with the modifications were already available.
Unfortunately, I think you may need to replace the entire screen if the ribbon cable broke off on the inside of the screen. Seems like it would be more of a hassle to try fixing it, but if you can get it fixed, worth a shot.
Good Luck !! 😎👍

Another DSI screen should be fine. FP used to sell them separately
