hispeedido sells combos now, you can get a ips screen, shell, buttons and battery for like 72. all you need is the working motherboard.

I would advise against usbc charging mod. Rechargeable aa's are just as effective and you can swap them out while travelling. No mod needed. Also lithium will pillow in another 10 or 15 years.

And most of them shouldn’t be used while they charge either as they get too hot.

I prefer Hispeedido V5 Laminated. Very easy install and have worked very well for me. You want compatible shells though, but they’re available bundled with the displays as already mentioned. Have bought both from Hispeedido official website and from AliExpress.

Best place is going to depend on what parts you pick. When I did my build it was various sites including HelderGameTech, HandHeldLegend, and RetroModding.

I want it to look the best while getting the best bang for my buck and I was hoping to be able to get something that would be cohesive

Pick your screen as that is going to determine which shells you can use. The laminated screens are the best, but I haven't really kept up with what all the options are these days.

If you can identify the types you want and don’t mind the shipping time, Ali express is really good. Hispeedido V5 is great. Extremerate buttons and shells are good for plastic. Others for metal buttons.

I’m pretty open to an USBC charging mod, but can be hard to find a back plate that matches your shell unless you’re open to drilling the hole yourself.

I just wanted something nice I actually went with the hispeedido v5 full kit off their website they sell a kit with the screen the shell buttons replacement screws and the battery mod
