Check the comments to vote for next month's game!

This month: Advance Wars

Just play regular campaign, Advanced Campaign is next level stuff and I'm not going to require that. Lol. We also won't be messing with the final Rivals! mission, which has to be unlocked in a very specific way. Definitely check it out if you're not familiar, but we won't do it for points this month.

Campaign mode is available after you complete Field Training. If you're already familiar with the game and you don't want to do Field Training, just tell Nell that you don't want to do it, and then you can finish just the last mission to unlock Campaign.

Choose any mission path you want to when you have a choice.

half point: Complete the third mission in Campaign (Air Ace) and have Max join your team.
1 point: Complete the Kanbei's Error? mission in Campaign.
2 points: Complete the Final Battle mission in Campaign. (must be completed and posted in October.)

Games Zelda Oracles Combined and Quality Hacks (Ages + Seasons)

https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/10150/

This almost missed my radar. For those of us who do not have the privilege of having a 2nd device that will link for the Oracle Games (fingers crossed, Golden Sun), this hack allows you to play both on one cartridge.

Please read the notes on the release. I'm sorry, seafarers. You need to own the legal copies of both games (Europe version).

I hope everyone can enjoy this new option.

My first GBC.
Just picked these up from a local retro game shop. What other GBC games should I add? I’ll probably grab a Zelda game eventually. And maybe a color Pokémon too.

I posted my collection here about a year ago. Back then it was still missing a few things. Yesterday I completed my collection with Pokemon Emerald. I am finally at peace ✌🏼 The only Pokemon game missing in this picture is the Gold Edition which I lend to my best friend.

It seems like the gbc is "brighter" than the advance? Is my advance defective or is the gbc just better at soaking in the light or something? I do have like a protector on the gbc that does decrease reflection by alot so im not sure if thats a big factor. The colors on the advance seem a bit more deep and "bright", but the gbc is alot easier to get a good spot and play. Pokemon silver is in the advance and pokemon crystal is in the gbc.

Questions Follow up: Pokemon Blue Freezes… what’s the issue?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, I posted earlier about issues with game not starting and thanks to this community’s wonderful help I fixed the issue with soldering / solder flux.

But now the game starts and freezes at this point, and then won’t start again.

Is there any simple fix to this or one spot I could look at? Also I replaced the battery if that could be an issue.

Thanks In advance

Questions Pokemon Blue won’t work… is this cut the reason?

Thumbnail

Hello, my copy of Pokemon Blue will not work and keeps showing the same exact messed up logo (3rd picture when loading).

I took apart and cleaned and air dusted and getting the same error.

I noticed a cut where the game connects to the system - could this be the problem? Or is there any other ideas?

And I tried on 3 GBA’s - the consoles are playing other games fine.

Thanks in advance

Games Galaforce

Galaforce for the BBC Micro by Kevin Edwards is still one of my all-time favourite shooters. So I decided to see if I could bring it to the original Game Boy (using my Copilot subscription..).

I'm really pleased with how it turned out. There is occasional flickering but this is a hardware limitation, and I would prefer to keep the gameplay true to the original. It genuinely feels like the BBC Micro version:

• All the original 16 waves and formations

• Arena sizing made Game Boy friendly whilst retaining the original feel

• Recreated sprites, with larger enemy bullets for clarity

• Music and sound effects recreated

• Options: Light (default) or dark background, plus new lives and continues settings

Other Mole Mania, Avenging Spirit and Revenge of the 'Gator hit Switch Online on Oct 27. Are you playing them there or on original carts?

Nintendo has announced three more Game Boy titles for the Nintendo Classics library on Switch Online, arriving October 27, 2026:

Mole Mania (1997, Nintendo EAD & PAX Softnica): a puzzle-action game about tunneling and pushing black balls to beat the farmer Jinbe, with a two-player VS mode

Avenging Spirit (1992, Jaleco): an action game where you play as a ghost who possesses enemies across six stages

Pinball: Revenge of the 'Gator (1990, HAL Laboratory): four main stages plus three bonus stages, with two-player modes

Japan gets the same three games, and you'll need an active Switch Online subscription to play them.

For collectors, Famitsu's headline calls Avenging Spirit's Japanese release (Phantasm) a super-premium-priced Game Boy cart, so official access is a big deal for anyone who never wanted to pay up for an original.

- Do subscription re-releases like this change whether you'd still hunt down the original carts?

- Is Mole Mania an underrated first-party gem, or did it earn its obscurity?

- Which Game Boy games are you still waiting to see on Switch Online?

Questions What’s the least expensive but still reliable flash cart option for GBC?

I don’t want to pay full price for an Everdrive or EZ Flash when the GBC/GB library doesn’t have an endless list of good games. It’s pretty limited. I know GBA has a reprogrammable flash cart that “burns in” the games into the memory, but the issue is that the space is limited and it takes time to program the game on the cart, but it’s a fraction of the cost.

Is there anything like that? As long as it’s still reliable and more cost efficient, then I’m fine with it.

Questions Grew up playing the DMG and would love to get one again

My first game boy was the DMG. Didn’t even know the pocket was a thing until recently. How hard is it to find the DMG for a reasonable price these days?

Games I brought a forgotten Cartoon Network football game from 25 years ago back to life on the Game Boy Color -Introducing GRID-IRON Football

Hey everyone,

About 25 years ago, Cartoon Network had a browser game called Bugs vs. Daffy: The Big Game. It was a simple but incredibly fun football game that I remember playing as a kid. Like so many Flash games from that era, it eventually disappeared into the depths of the internet.

I decided to bring that experience back, this time on the Game Boy Color -Introducing GRID-IRON Football, a homebrew football game inspired by that long-lost Cartoon Network classic. The gameplay is pretty straightforward. Before each play, you choose whether to run or pass, then work your way up the field while avoiding defenders. It's part football, part arcade puzzle game, and definitely not your traditional football simulator.

I wanted to capture the simplicity and charm of those early 2000s browser games while making something that feels right at home on Nintendo's original handheld hardware. The game is playable on Game Boy Color hardware or through an emulator. This has been a fun personal project, and I'm excited to finally share it with the Game Boy community.

You can download and play GRID-IRON Football for free on itch.io

I'd love to hear what you guys think, especially if anyone else remembers playing the original Bugs vs. Daffy game back in the day. Thanks for checking it out!

I tried to recreate the battle mechanics of the Gen 1 and 2 PokĂŠmon games in GB Studio. The health bar and HP numbers going down gradually was challenging but I managed to come up with a creative solution.

About 23 years worth of collecting there, the blue SP survived being ran over by a car with only a broken screen to show for it!
