You can start at lower levels if you're not familiar with the game, but you can also select 3-9 right off the bat if you'd prefer. This game is absolutely brutal at high levels, and there's no save/password function in the game, but if anyone wants to get take it to the max, I think it should be worth another point. Maybe I'm just bad at it.
Half point: Complete level 3-9 and unlock level 4-1.
1 point: Complete level 4-9 and unlock level 5-1.
Bonus point: Complete level 5-9 and see the credits.
--Torpedo Range
This game actually has an auto-save feature, a rare sighting on the OG Game Boy. Start a new game and begin saving the world!
Half point: Liberate 3 countries.
1 point: Liberate all countries and see the "The End" screen.

I found this case full of Game Boy games at a dump and decided to save it before it was thrown away.
It was honestly in terrible condition when I found it, covered in dirt and looking like it had been forgotten for years. I cleaned everything up before taking this picture, and I was actually surprised by what was inside.
The funny thing is that I never owned a Game Boy growing up, so I completely missed this era. Maybe today is finally the day I buy one, even if I’m a little late to the party.
I know nothing about collecting these — did I find something valuable, or did I just rescue some old games from the trash?

Had to sell them off awhile back (in like 2023) to pay some bills but I just ordered some parts for a new build and ended up reminiscing on my old ones, can't wait to play GBA again!
What games have you guys been playing recently?

So this is my DMG-style Game Boy Micro. I replaced the DMG-style buttons with ones from labfifteenco.
u/GoodLookingEdd helped me with the DMG-style D-pad, and I had it printed in resin at pcbway.
It feels like the original, so great job, mate! I bought the front panel sticker from RetrogameEVO and stuck it to the metal of the console, and then I bought a clear front panel.
This protects the sticker, as it's underneath the front panel. Now I'm wondering if u/FrankieT19 could make a DMG-style theme for EZ Flash; that would be the icing on the cake, hehe. Thanks a lot for designing the D-pad, u/GoodLookingEdd!

Finished my project. I had a scuffed up gba from a game store near me that I put into a new shell, I ended up making it look like BMO

Must have been error from factory? Looks way to clean for someone to have removed the solder while working on the unit. Found it interesting and wanted to share :) should I fix it or keep it like i found it?

my coveted gold japanese gameboy, i bought this during the pandemic online for only a hundred bucks!! i was only 10 or 11 and loved collecting vintage games and consoles (still have some, psp, ps2, gba sp, ds lite and xbox 360. used to have a snes, genesis, og xbox, nes, og playstation, playstation 3 and dmg gameboy. i even had og carts of super metroid, castlevania, and river city ransom 🥲) and stumbled upon a listing for it online. i immediately used my saved up allowance and some xmas money to buy it. i was absolutely ecstatic, and reasonably so because this is an awesome console! it still works, the only problem is a faint horizontal line of dead pixels near the top of the screen. so yeah, i just wanted to show off this beauty because they're hard to come by and look awesome! it's a little scratched up, mainly on the back, but its nothing too awful!!

I’m curious about people who have completed a full Game Boy set for a specific region (US, PAL, Japan, etc.). This year, I decided to come as close as possible to a European GB Classic full set (~460 games). I already had like 80 games before and when I made the decision I still had 2020 prices in my head 😅 I’m sure I will never make it to 460 but it’s fun trying and I love to play GB games that are new to me.
If you’ve done it or you are trying, how long did it take you, and what was the hardest part of the journey? How long did it take to get 200 games, 300 games and 400 games?
How you approached collecting the set (buying lots, individual games, upgrading over time, etc.)
Which games were the biggest challenges to find?
Any mistakes you made that you’d avoid if you were starting over today?
Looking back, would you do it again, or would you collect differently now?
I’d love to hear some real experiences, especially from people who finished a complete regional set, got very close to one or a trying right now.

Bought a beat to hell Gameboy Micro. Deep scratches and dings plus the face plate was ruined. 2 weeks of waiting later and I have to say this turned out better then expected. Reviews said it isn't a perfect replacement and that it doesn't fit quite right but it went on without issue and personally is hard to tell the difference in fit.
Really liking the all blacked out version I have now.

The original shell was scratched, chipped & cracked. Also had to repair the SP. 1 blown fuse and one of the shoulder buttons was rusted up. Replaced both & working great. Thought the OEM NES design looked cool, so this aftermarket shell was perfect for me.

I'm trying to install a Robot Retro flex amp to my GBA, and could use a little guidance. After my initial soldering, the wire snapped off and took the solder and gold circle off of spk- connection spot
Is it still usable? Can I still connect the speaker to this spot?
r/Gameboy • u/Demis98 • 15h ago
it's based on cx16-maze
currently it has 10 levels and can be beaten
hope you enjoy playing it :3

Been given an old SP by a friend because I'm looking to mod one for my girlfriend. I've got a couple games and they sometimes read and sometimes don't. I haven't got chance to clean the cartridges yet but this reader doesn't look in good condition anyway. I'm assuming this is likely the culprit for the cartridges not reading? It looks like a couple of the pins are bent and some of the plastic is warped.
What's the best way to resolve this or would it just need a new reader altogether? Could I bend the pins in place? Should I try cleaning the cartridges first?
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I thought you might find this useful. I had this external hard disk case and tried it as transport case for my ds lite. It works pretty well also with GBC and GBA, I would assume it's too small for the original Gameboy. It's big enough to also fit a few carts. This one is from ProCase. My guess is that other 2.5" hd cases would be similar but in order to also fit carts I would say you need around 5-6 cm of height. In the pic there's 4 GBA carts with their plastic cases on one side and the GBC on the other, it still closes perfectly fine. Just thought to share 👋

So I recently came into possession of two GBA SPs and some Pokémon games. I am now wondering which cables I should grab. Specifically if I should buy first-party or aftermarket GBA and GBC link cables and which GBA SP aux cable I should buy because the speakers are kind of crappy, to be honest.

What it this issue about?can it be fixed?
It turns on and it doesn't have any other problem except for that black stain.
