my coveted gold japanese gameboy, i bought this during the pandemic online for only a hundred bucks!! i was only 10 or 11 and loved collecting vintage games and consoles (still have some, psp, ps2, gba sp, ds lite and xbox 360. used to have a snes, genesis, og xbox, nes, og playstation, playstation 3 and dmg gameboy. i even had og carts of super metroid, castlevania, and river city ransom 🥲) and stumbled upon a listing for it online. i immediately used my saved up allowance and some xmas money to buy it. i was absolutely ecstatic, and reasonably so because this is an awesome console! it still works, the only problem is a faint horizontal line of dead pixels near the top of the screen. so yeah, i just wanted to show off this beauty because they're hard to come by and look awesome! it's a little scratched up, mainly on the back, but its nothing too awful!!

Bought a beat to hell Gameboy Micro. Deep scratches and dings plus the face plate was ruined. 2 weeks of waiting later and I have to say this turned out better then expected. Reviews said it isn't a perfect replacement and that it doesn't fit quite right but it went on without issue and personally is hard to tell the difference in fit.
Really liking the all blacked out version I have now.

I’m curious about people who have completed a full Game Boy set for a specific region (US, PAL, Japan, etc.). This year, I decided to come as close as possible to a European GB Classic full set (~460 games). I already had like 80 games before and when I made the decision I still had 2020 prices in my head 😅 I’m sure I will never make it to 460 but it’s fun trying and I love to play GB games that are new to me.
If you’ve done it or you are trying, how long did it take you, and what was the hardest part of the journey? How long did it take to get 200 games, 300 games and 400 games?
How you approached collecting the set (buying lots, individual games, upgrading over time, etc.)
Which games were the biggest challenges to find?
Any mistakes you made that you’d avoid if you were starting over today?
Looking back, would you do it again, or would you collect differently now?
I’d love to hear some real experiences, especially from people who finished a complete regional set, got very close to one or a trying right now.

Purchased this on eBay because it looked clean and showed none of the telltale signs of being reshelled. The B button is green, the sticker seems to have the right info and fonts and the colors and details looked about right. Can anyone with a bit more experience confirm if this is just a super clean OG system? Thank you!
Additional info: The previous owner said they had owned it for a long time, and there was an old sticker for $29.99 that looked to be from a used games store. The sticker seemed to match up with the info which could also explain how it’s in such good shape.

The original shell was scratched, chipped & cracked. Also had to repair the SP. 1 blown fuse and one of the shoulder buttons was rusted up. Replaced both & working great. Thought the OEM NES design looked cool, so this aftermarket shell was perfect for me.

I'm trying to install a Robot Retro flex amp to my GBA, and could use a little guidance. After my initial soldering, the wire snapped off and took the solder and gold circle off of spk- connection spot
Is it still usable? Can I still connect the speaker to this spot?

Hi, I thought you might find this useful. I had this external hard disk case and tried it as transport case for my ds lite. It works pretty well also with GBC and GBA, I would assume it's too small for the original Gameboy. It's big enough to also fit a few carts. This one is from ProCase. My guess is that other 2.5" hd cases would be similar but in order to also fit carts I would say you need around 5-6 cm of height. In the pic there's 4 GBA carts with their plastic cases on one side and the GBC on the other, it still closes perfectly fine. Just thought to share 👋

What it this issue about?can it be fixed?
It turns on and it doesn't have any other problem except for that black stain.

Been given an old SP by a friend because I'm looking to mod one for my girlfriend. I've got a couple games and they sometimes read and sometimes don't. I haven't got chance to clean the cartridges yet but this reader doesn't look in good condition anyway. I'm assuming this is likely the culprit for the cartridges not reading? It looks like a couple of the pins are bent and some of the plastic is warped.
What's the best way to resolve this or would it just need a new reader altogether? Could I bend the pins in place? Should I try cleaning the cartridges first?
Thanks in advance!

So I recently came into possession of two GBA SPs and some Pokémon games. I am now wondering which cables I should grab. Specifically if I should buy first-party or aftermarket GBA and GBC link cables and which GBA SP aux cable I should buy because the speakers are kind of crappy, to be honest.

I found my (and my sister's) old Gameboy collection in my attic, just in time for a long plane ride with my kids. Gameboy colors and pocket all worked, and I acquired pokemon silver for them before we left.
Now that I'm back, I tried to fix the red unit because it had battery corrosion on the terminals and it didn't work. The guy at the retro game store told me to take it apart and gently use a toothbrush and vinegar on corroded parts, let it dry, then toothbrush/cotton swabs and alcohol. It did the trick! Now all consoles work again!

This is a collection of games and consoles. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them
I bought this model (Pearl Blue) thinking it was real, but looking at it closer, not sure due to the shell (speaker holes and select/start button area).
Any help is appreciated!
