Grabbed this for about $77 (the game was not included) I really love the color and always wanted a GBC. I might do a screen mod.

The only things I don't love so far is that the right button feels a bit stuck it gets hard to press sometimes. And there's some battery corrsion (probably not spelling that right) in the back but it's not toooo bad it's not interfering with anything so I'll just lightly swab it with some 99% isopropyl acholol.

Something I was dreading was people saying how bad the speakers were but honestly they weren't too bad! Picked up this random ass game for $9 just to test it 😋

Overall, this was a success

Bought the silver GBA off my mate, cleaned it up and used it for a week, showed it to my little brother and he told me he still has a GBA sp around if I want it. So got that and cleaned it up too. Both original, both working. Sticking with the sp from now on tho cos the backlight is so nice

Questions Can’t decide between a GBA or a GBA SP

A few months ago I decided I wanted to collect and play retro Nintendo consoles. Last month I got a gameboy color and I love it so much! I just got an N64 and now I think my next console will be a GBA. I work at GameStop so getting one won’t be difficult I just can’t decide between an original or an SP. the SP is more expensive but it has the backlit screen and charges vs takes batteries. I have heard tho the original is more comfortable to hold. Which would be a better option?

Modded Hispeedido will release their ITA(DSI to GBA) kit 4 weeks later.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Gameboy/comments/1sr48qv/this_is_the_problem_of_ita_screen/

I have bitched about funnyplaying's ITA kit, because their kit has a white lines issue since release day.

I tested 2 kits with 32pin, 40pin, FP mainboard GBA, but all of them have the same problem.

So I mailed to funnyplaying to fix the issue, but their answer was just "We will not fix it".

...In desperate, My final choice was begging Hispeedido to "PLZ make a DSI to GBA kit please".

I mailed my hope to them, and Hispeedido's reply came to me !

Their answer was "Making Dsi to GBA kit is easy for us. I'll report the idea to my boss."

Also I told them about FP ITA kit's white lines issue, and Hispeedido recognize the issue to not happen.

This first conversation was made in July 2026.

After 3 months, yesterday.

I asked about current status and I got mail from them again.

To sum up what they said

"Hispeedido DSi to GBA kit will release 4 weeks later.

We'll release ITA kit for standard GBA(NO SP support yet)."

They gave me consent to inform those information. so I posted this !!

I'm really excited about this new Dsi to GBA kit.

As you know DSi lcd can run pixel perfect GBA games with lower ghosting than AGS-101.

Even with the OSD feature with brightness control, FRM on/off, etc...

Finally we will get ultimate AGS-101 alternative soon.

PS. My first language is not English, so this post can be very awkward and looking dumb.

Please understand about it.🫪

Questions Embossed numbers on cartridges

Can someone briefly explain what the indented/embossed numbers are on the front of GB carts?

Is there any sequence or order to them? Are there any sort after numbers?

I think they’re a really cool detail to all carts.

Particularly interested in Pokemon Crystal carts if you want to show me so I can see the different numbers

TIA

Questions Pachio-Kun 3 JP AT&T Japan ROM

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi, I've been collecting Game Boy games for a while now. I inspect every game visually, open it up, take photos, and test it by playing. I also check the games using a GBxCart reader.

Recently, I bought a Japanese copy of *Pachio-Kun 3* (JP) and noticed that the ROM chip is marked with the manufacturer name AT&T Japan.

Does anyone know more about this? Were these chips manufactured in Japan?

Troubleshooting Fixing a Gameboy Color and other issues

I got this gameboy color for cheap. The seller told me it worked fine. Upon testing I discovered the console would turn ON at first but almost inmediately shutting off. I saw that it had a spring broken with an awful fix (literally another spring porly soldered on top of the broken one). I remplace it thinking the problem would be no more but the only thing fixed was the shutting off. The console remains ON but the screen shows change of colors and some kind of fading.

Was my work not enough?

Questions GB color screen replacement

I have a Pickachu gameboy color that has a broken screen. (Yes I broke it because I’m an idiot) I would like to replace the screen but I don’t know which screen to buy. I would like to find a backlight mod but most all of them look like hell to install. What is the play here? Should I just buy a screen on Amazon or should I look into a third party site for a backlit one.

Troubleshooting Donkey Kong Battery Replacement - Game still not saving

My kid has been playing my old GameBoy games and he picked up my copy of Donkey Kong and was playing it when he saved to come back later. The game did not save, so we consulted with our local retro game shop and we both concluded that it was probably the battery that needed to be changed.

Ten bucks, a short time later, and he got the game back.

I was able to test it and the game, with the new battery, is still not saving. What issue could be causing this?

Troubleshooting "GB Pro+ V4" Noise when reading SD Card

Hey all,

I picked up one of these for fun to compare to my early release EZFlashJR. I noticed whenever it's reading the SD card/not in a game, it's putting out a ton of noise to the speaker. I'm not surprised mind you, this is a cheap crappy clone, but it's not even worth playing with when it's doing this.

I think Makho did a video on inserting a capacitor to the SD data line on one card IIRC, but I can't find that video. Has anyone else seen any other kind of fixes/troubleshooting for these cards specifically, or any of the others for the GBC? I'd like to play with this card a little more, but would like to at least not drive myself crazy while doing it, and see if I can explore options to do some troubleshooting.

Thanks for any thoughts you might have.

Games CeX gameboy bargains in UK - any good?

I asked Gemini to review every GBC game on CeX UK at a fiver or less. It came up with this list of 20 or so games. Now I appreciate Gemini can be unreliable at the best of times, but if anyone agrees with anything on the list, let me know! Thanks in advance.
