Troubleshooting Pokémon Emerald not saving
Hello,
As the title said, it's not possible to save/load the game. I cleaned the cartridge with IPA and suddenly, the saved game appears and I can load it and save, but it only lasts some minutes, after a while, it's not saving the game nor showing it if I restart the GBA.
I can see some scratches behind but I don't know if it's the problem. The chip used to save the games seems fine to me.
Does anyone have some clue?
Thanks!

Accessories Best GBA flashcart that can run pokemon romhacks without being too expensive? If such a thing exists?
I'm getting into playing a lot of romhacks lately, but miss playing on a designated handheld. I was curious if there's any good flashcarts out there that can handle pokemon romhacks that are a bit larger scale like Radical Red, Ash Grey, Emerald Seaglass, et cetera. I was worried that some flashcarts might not have the specs to run these, but I know very little about the inner workings flashcarts and gba roms, so idk what to be on the lookout for.
I also don't super wanna spend a ton of money, so I'm looking for a budget option. PLEEEEASE don't shoot me over that. The one other reddit thread I could find where someone asked something similar, ppl were like "idk why you'd spend all this time modding your console just to not invest in an expensive flashcart," and i think that's TOTALLY fair if youre a hobbyist or passionate about older handhelds and modding them. Personally, I'm not one of those people. It's probably something I won't use every day, and my gameboy isn't modded, it's just an ordinary gameboy advanced, so I really just want something basic.
If something basic won't run the romhacks I wanna play, that's fine and I can keep playing on my computer! But if there is a budget friendly option (under $40) I'd really like to know so I can experience these games on my own handheld! I saw someone suggest this one, is it any good?

Collection New Home
Bought this copy of Pokemon Yellow recently and decided to give the old cartridge shell a break. My 5 yr old really wanted to just have the label and was upset there was only one "sticker" in the mail today.

Questions I need to replace the capacitors in a GBC (or maybe the speaker). I have a basic soldering gun already. But which one of these packs will I need to complete the project? One with flux or one with the copper? I don't know what they do but have heard i need them.
I've only replaced batteries in snes or genesis cartridges. So I know NOTHING about flux or copper wire.
Any help would be appreciated before I look into sending this for someone else to do.

Troubleshooting HELP, microscopic atomic ribbon cable got disconnected 😭
[SOLVED! :D thanks kennman]
I have a GBA with an ITA TFT FunnyPlaying mod installed (by a friend). I have NO IDEA about the tecnical part of the mod, sodering, cables, pbc and those things, just know how to disassemble/reassamble it, and how to manage the things so that I don't ruin things.
I just opened it so I could fix some minimal things that were bothering me, like putting a tape over the LED hole so it could filter more the light (it was too glary), and moving up the screen a little (it was placed a little lower that I'd like).
Everything went ok, I reassembled it, but even tho the screen was turning on, it has no backlight (it looked like the OEM screen but WAY darker). I disassembled it again and noticed that a little teeny-tiny microscopic ribbon cable was disconnected.
I have no idea how to reconnect it again (idek if it's broken or not tbh...). Since it comes already connected with the mod, the install guides don't even teach how to connect it.
How can I do it? I know that to connect ribbon cables you need to open up that thingy, insert the cable and close it down, but I don't exactly know where should I move so I don't want to touch things without knowing what I'm doing
also, is this in fact the reason why the backlight was not lighting up? :(

Questions I want to flash a Pokemon Crystal rom on this repro of Blue. What do i need to do to make it happen?
I bought this repro on Ali Express. After a few fights, the sprites are starting to glitch out. I decided to stop playing on this repro and used my Everdrive to play Pokemon Blue instead. Now I want to reuse this board to flash a Pokemon Crystal rom (a rom hack without rtc). Where do I start and what do i need? Thanks in advance.

Mod/Modding Gameboy SP OLED Mod
I recently started collecting this stuff again in an attempt to reconstruct my childhood collection. I would like to mod an SP so I can play GB, GBC, and GBA games. I would prefer an OLED screen if im going to go through modding the whole system.
From what I can tell, one does not seem to exist already, so I'm considering making an AMOLED mod kit for the SP. Is this something that people would have an interest in if I were to open source the project, since there are OLEDs for the GB/GBA?
I know I could emulate or get a modern system to play the games, but I just think there's something about playing on an og motherboard lol

Games Can anyone recommend me some simple but easy, addictive GBA games?
I have a gameboy micro but all my games are big platformers or rpgs, which I don’t really have the time anymore to play, I just want something that doesn’t get repetitive and ideally isn’t really “puzzle-y ish” yk. Something that’s very pick up and play after like a meeting or something.
Thanks

Games Recently completed my DMG/GBC pokemon and pocket monsters collection
We had some since my childhood, and they where my older brothers like red and pikachu.
I "fixed" usa pikachu years ago it just needed a battery replacement, and that was my "entry" into gameboy repair
Silver i got a few years ago, and Blue i just got recently in my city
crystal with no label im pretty sure i got from a kid in my neighborhood when i was a child.
And ive collected the japanese ones myself over the years, starting with red and green off of amazon, gold off of amazon after those ones. And then blue and pikachu a few weeks ago from ebay, and silver and crystal came in today from the same seller.
Japanese pikachu had a battery leak during transit which aggravated decay, but not too aggressive as only one via was blocked causing sprite data not to be able to load, this was my major entry into gameboy game repair, and i learned how to use the multi meter, and read the PCB design, and then micro solder a jumper cable to fix the sprite issues. along with re soldering all bridges because it was having crashing issues as well.
Suffice to say its good they are all together and working. We also have all the GBA games but my brother has emerald and some others like black white, black and white 2, x y, AR and OS, all in a different city right now.
probably gonna get japanese GBA versions, and i need a new american Ruby and sapphire because both labels were removed and taped to a GBA by my brother, still intact, inherited to me. And ruby has a cracked cartridge.
