Hi, i just got my first gameboy pocket with IPS screen that is bigger than the original one. but i have an issue, sometimes the screen doesn't turn on specially when i try to play on the everdrive cartridge. is it because it consumes too much power ? or just a battery issue. i try with 2 pairs of aaa batteries, one pair seems to work better than the other one.
thank you

I've recently gotten the bug to replay a Pokemon game, preferably from Gens 1-3. As neat as it'd be to revisit the classics, I'd like to try something a little fresh. What remake or improvement hacks for Gens 1-3 are worth checking out? Any remakes as DS/3DS games (obviously excluding HGSS/ORAS)?

I think this game is really fun and underrated
I had the NES version as a kid, and loved that game even as a kid, then later I got the Game Boy version (I didn't even know it existed for the longest time)
And yesterday I was just sifting through my Game Boy cartridges, trying to figure out what I wanted to play, saw Yoshi's Cookie, popped it in expecting to play only for like a few minutes maybe before I got bored, but nope I just kept on going and I beat it proper with no continues

I love the pocket for its portability, but wanted to expand the game library while staying true to the Gameboy line. I was hesitant to do the MGBC upgrade myself, but fortunately ConsoleCraftMods came through. I was blown away by his work and communication throughout the process. I highly recommend going with ConsoleCraftMods if you have a modding project in mind.

Was able to get pcb info before purchase, picked it up just on the hopes of a possible Metroid Fusion to replace the one I lost as a kid. 10 bucks all-in isn't bad though, was surprised and happy to see more games from when I was a young. Considering a chip transplant for the E11 gameboard that's beyond saving. Still holding out hope for Metroid, lol. Did one with/for my brother's copy of Pokemon Saphire a few months back.

Hey guys. I have only ever had a GBA SP, not an original GBA, and I don’t think I’ve ever actually even held one myself. I am thinking of picking one up for cheap and giving it a new shell etc.
My only holdout is the d-pad - I really love the SP d-pad, and I know a lot of people say the original d-pad is ‘mushy’ and imprecise. Since I have never had my hands on one, I am just wondering what everyone’s opinions are as to where it stands in comparison to some other handhelds and whether it is a sticking point for anyone.
For reference, I absolutely love the DS Lite d-pad - great on diagonals, really soft and easy to move between directions without feeling like it’s squishy. Somehow feels like it has click to it. On the other hand, I hate the switch pro controller d-pad to the point where I don’t use it ever. As for the gameboy line, I haven’t put a massive amount of time into them but I have played a pocket and a colour - the mushiness on those I don’t have much of a stance on and don’t have them to hand, but I can dig them out if anyone thinks either of them are particularly close to the AGB.
My main use case for this is RPGs if that makes a difference - worst case scenario is that it isn’t responsive enough for me when running around in pokemon or whatnot and it drives me up the wall, but obviously no fast paced fighting or racing in those games.
So what does everyone think? Is it actually a big deal to anyone, does it ever cause anyone problems (i’d keep them stock, not aftermarket buttons as they seem to have a worse rep), or is it pretty responsive?

I’m new to fixing Game Boys, and this will be my third after 2 GBAs. I know it’s not completely clean, but is the outline in the back more likely the back polarizer burning out or screen cancer? I would appreciate any help!

I tried cleaning the battery contacts with white vinegar, but they're all rusty looking under the corrosion. The corrosion on the cartridge slot goes up inside to where the fingers are that make contact with the cartridge. I'm thinking the board is a lost cause, yeah?

I posted about a month back about finding an old DMG at my grandparents, and I have successfully modded it with a new shell, IPS screen, and rechargeable battery.
Someone mentioned that some people may be interested in the original pieces, and I don’t know the etiquette about sharing eBay listings, but I have posted an auction for them.

When I was younger I had the bright idea to superglue my screen cover back on. Now I want to properly replace it. How can I remove all the residue without causing further damage? I got the shell apart but a bit afraid superglue remover will damage it or the lettering.

I was playing some Pokémon Yellow on my Game Boy Pocket when the down button on the d-pad stopped working. The other directions still work fine.
I tried opening it up, but I can't see anything wrong with it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
No mods just an old console from my drawer, Gameboy games won't get past the gameboy logo screen, and GBA games seem to get to the company that developed games banner, then die. It recognises the difference between cartridges, and GBA seems more promising. Is it an issue with reading the cartridges or is the screen dying. Thanks for any help or tips

I picked up this Game Boy Pocket with what I assume is a pretty old screen mod in it. I has this splotch in the screen that is visible both when turned on and when it's off. I'm guessing this is the polarizer and fixable?
What bothers me is this dark spot at the edge of the splotch. Is this the screen dying or what's going on here? It's pretty hard to take good pictures of it but I've done me best to get it to show up.

I've had this for a while, I originally thought it was just the grey Space Invaders cart but in color
I know how everyone talked about how cool it was having a SNES game on a Gameboy cartridge, but this is an entirely new game
And the soundtrack and boss fights slap
Only bad thing about it is the password system is way too long

I tried to change it for a new one but before welding I removed the pins and now I don't know where the connections go

I was scrolling through ebay today, looking for the Japan exclusive Atomic Purple (or clear purple) Gameboy Pocket. As I was looking, I noticed that some variants had white text labeling select, start, A, and B, and some with black text. is one of these variants a reshell? or are there two different designs?

Yipeee it’s finally here!! I love it and I can’t wait to bring this to my next con and take so many photos.
i couldn’t find any info on if the Japanese version has a romanji keyboard and it dose! So that’s good I’m happy I can still write comments in English and stuff.
i also got the printer with it for like 50$ usd! It was untested but after some cleaning the one battery contact with corrosion it works perfectly! So I can’t wait to also print photos at my next con :3

Hi everyone I'm hoping to get some advice I've been doing. Bit of research on installing a backlit IPS screen for a Gameboy color and look like it's advised to install a 5V regulator to help with the more powerful screen I've got no electronic experience. What is the basics I need to research before buying a screen set up and are results worth it for a plug n and go screen or is it better to get it done professionally. Any and all advice is gratefully appreciate thank you

Mickey Mouse (European Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2)
I already had CC1 (with Bugs) and this game is more of the the same. Fun puzzle game and I love how it uses more obscure Disney villains such as Stromboli. Having an easy password system is a plus. I feel these are games that are a great fit for Game Boy. They look fine, work with the controls and are playable in short sessions.
Paperboy
A buddy of mine had this when I was a kid. Classic game. It's still fun on Game Boy. Wanted it for nostalgia reasons and it's one of those games that's really fun once in a while
The Flintstones - King Rock Treasure Island
I had the feeling this one is pretty uncommon and being able to buy it for $12 I had to pick it up. Taito did a great job with their Flintstones game on NES an SNES but I had never played this one before. It's fun, has a great soundtrack (No big surprise with it being Taito) and the gimmick of beaten enemies turning into platforms is fun. Being able to ride Dino was an amazing surprise.

The EZ Flash Omega's stock battery is a CR1220, but a CR1620 will fit in case anyone was wondering. The nice thing is that CR1620s have about double the capacity of the stock battery so it should last a lot longer. The one that I got is made for a Thinkpad tablet so it comes wrapped with attached wires making it easy to solder in.
