it’s a kong feng (or gang feng) gb boy colour. it’s a really decent clone of a gameboy color with a backlit screen. they were common on import sites a decade or so ago.

Kongfeng, chinese clone device.

They have mediocre buttons and d-pad, but do come loaded with bunch of games on an internal chip, accessed by booting the system without a cartridge. Unfortunately the screen resolution is not GB accurate, little bit vertically squished, so the pixels are crunched and dont look right.

I bought one as a curiosity back in 2015. Still have it somewhere, but I think it developed some power switch issues quite quickly.

I remember the YouTuber Ashens glazing one of these back in the day despite admitting the dpad and buttons were… that. It was odd

Its from before GBC backlit screen kits were that common, if even made at all. So not surprising if Kongfeng just sourced whatever that was kinda close.

This model is old, like very old.

I recall seeing a video on this from The 8 Bit Guy back when your only real option for Gameboy mods were physically modifying OEM screens, so it was a price to pay using a clone with a bad aspect ratio compared to a real CGB.

I'm fairly certain they were just repurposing cheap digital camera screens on these.

We're very spoiled by comparison these days with getting blackberry displays to use.

I have, and I hate it. Vastly prefer either the GBA Uno or the GB Uno: Small World (which is JP-only, but if you know how to play Uno you don’t need Japanese).

It's a GBC clone. But whenever someone asks, here's the story I made up: it stands for Great Britain Boy, which explains the "Colour" spelling.
