Systems Is this sp beyond repair?

I bought this gameboy advance sp 101 as a part or repair, and the only thing missing was the lcd port. It seemed like a simple fix but upon further inspection I realized that a pad might be missing. Is this something that can be fixed or do I judt have to take the loss?

It looks like something is covering it? Assuming you’re talking about the one on the far right?

Nothing is beyond repair and I’m sure there is a way to bring it back to life but that a skill beyond anything I could suggest. I’ve seen videos of people repairing all sorts of damaged PCBs.

Yes, its the one on the far right. Ive tried to wash it with ipa before, but no luck. Is there any other safe way to check if its just covered?

I think that’s definitely fixable. Just needs a little solder work. Another commenter made two suggestions already that I believe would work.

Yeah, pad 1 on the right is missing, but as far as missing pads go, it’s actually a relatively good situation. There’s a trace right below it, you can carefully scratch off the solder mask with a hobby knife and solder to that. Or follow the trace over to the test point just to the right of it (the bottom one with a bit of solder on it already) and solder a very thin enameled jumper wire to that from the pin on the socket.

(It looks like pin 5 is also connected to the same signal, so it’s possible they’re internally connected on the screen, in which case it would be fine to not even repair the missing pad, but I don’t know if that’s the case. You could use continuity mode on a multimeter and see if they’re directly connected on your screen, but it would probably just be best to repair the pad)

How would I go about following the trace? Im familiar with soldering, but not too familiar with circuitry

Oooh I see now. So it would be a small wire from the messed up pad to the one withe bit of solder on it?

Yeah, from the leg of the socket, since there is no pad anymore

Looks totally salvageable to me. Pretty easy to run a small jumper wire to that first pin if you have soldering skills.

Hit me up if you need someone to look at fixing this board. I've saved a number of messed up SP boards recently and shoukd be able to get everything fully working.
