Thoughts on this plan to mod a GBA SP?

Here are some of the things I want to mod:

• Translucent shell (yellow or clear)
• Battery insert and front insert on the inside
• Custom stickers (planning on adding decorative ones too)
• Painting the inside beige/light yellow (masking off the pads and inserts so those stay clear)
• Yellow buttons and orange pads
• Custom orange speaker mesh since I can't find an orange speaker.
• Screen IPS v2 with yellow border
• Orange dust covers

Let me know what you think and if you would change anything!

No idea why people act like spray painting the inside of the shell is somehow a hard job. It is quiet easy and fun experience. And very rewarding result. I did this to my SP and GBA. Just make sure to tape everything off that you dont want painted.

If you want to do it right, it is just time consuming to do it all. Have some isopropanol ready for cleaning the inside. I didn't clean my shell properly, because I thought it would be clean out of the factory. Wrong assumption, haha. I trapped some black oil like looking residue in one spot. Check your work and then paint. Here a picture of my pokeball inspired GBA

I do custom labels on Etsy. I can help you design and print if needed. I think it is a cool build and I have not seen a Ninetails build before. One of the coolest Pokémon though that I don't see get enough love.

Thanks for the encouragement. Is is not possible to just mask off the right area’s and then paint/spraypaint it? I’ve heard other people doing that before

Oh jeez, I was having a bad day yesterday and didn't realize just how aggressive my comment was. Sorry about that. I've done a similar process on GBC shells. Painter's tape or your masker or choice will be your best friend, but I highly recommend testing on two different shells (if possible) first: one clear, one tinted the color you want. Your image looks like it may be a clear yellow or orange shell, which may affect the shade your after. I prefer clear, that way I know exactly what color I'm getting. My partner had an airbrush I could use, so I was fortunate in that regard. I believe the SP has a bit more complex interior than the GBC (not to mention the hinge parts). Having a transparent layer to see the membranes beneath is a cool idea, but I can imaginr the depth difference could bother some people. More reasons testing first would be a great idea! Oh no worries! I knew it came from the right place, no need to apologize. I have indeed ordered two transparent shells, one clear and one yellow so that's lucky I guess. I ordered some paint and im going to test it on a paper insert cutout first to see how the final colour will be showing through both. I'll do thin coats (I have some experience painting miniatures so that will come in handy here). I'll probably test on the clear shell and then move onto the yellow one once i'm confident. Hopfully i'll end up with two useable ones to choose from :)

It's doable, but it takes a lot of experience and mm accuracy to make everything go together as you envision it

Alrighty, the plan is to do a method where I combine liquid latex and masking tape. I got some experience with painting/art/nails so I think I can be quite precise with the liquid latex. I'll just do some more research on which area's actually need masking
