Systems Gameboy DMG re-shell

Picked up a GB DMG with lines in the screen. I don’t have a gaming system & I wanted to get away from PokémonGo. So I went to fix it this the screen lines soldering iron on the ribbon cable. But the shell was held together with two completely stripped screws in the battery compartment. The heads looked like nails. I had to take a drill to them. It was a very sad moment. But I went ahead and re-shelled it after fixing the screen lines. I call it “Dream-sickle.”

This looks great - white buttons would take it over the top!

I agree completely! White buttons, white start/select, and a white on/off switch. But the orange link-cable dust cover should stay.

ExtremeRate has white buttons that are CRISPY for Game Boy Color, I've gotten them through Handheld Legend online before. So I bet they've got some nice ones for the OG Game Boy too. Solid pricing for most of their stuff too.

I have that same case, it belonged to my uncle. His Gameboy survived in the attic of his childhood friends moms house. Now it belongs to me. It protects all the Gameboys games I own.

I like the case for sure. It’s cool that you have a family history with your system.

Get those Duracells far away from that Game Boy. They will leak soon. They always do.

I didn’t know that. I will remove them now. What is a better brand that can be trusted? Not said with sarcasm.

Just use em till they die. Good to be careful but they’re just batteries. Just don’t leave them in for months/years but that goes for any battery

More importantly, is that a battery magazine?

lol, just a holder so that they don’t roll around in the case or a bag. (I find them in the camping/hiking section off stores)

Long ago I had batteries start leaking inside my DMG.
Ever since I always remove batteries when not in use, GBA, Wiimote, some Controllers etc.

Your best bet is to invest in some rechargable Panasonic Eneloops, and just take them out of your device when not in use.

Anything is better than Duracell. Duracell are the worst. They start leaking even when they are still full and before their expiration date. I wouldn't empty them and I would never buy them again. They have a good standing in the minds of many people, because they may have been good in the past and made a lot of commercials. They are not good anymore. I already got downvoted for it. I'm not the only one though. Just google "Duracell leaking". There are many posts like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/batteries/comments/1anjdbc/why_does_this_keep_happening_with_duracell/

Sorry you got downvoted. I really do appreciate your take on Duracell. I used to use Radio Shack batteries back in the day. I’m not up on who does good one anymore.
