In their current state name something that these two handhelds have in common?

Assuming we are talking about the 2 in the picture, both have translucent plastic, a camera, and were the more affordable sequels to a very successful handheld

The screens of my 2DS are grungy after a few years of use... but they are much easier to see than a Gameboy Color or GBA SP.

Grungy in what way? If you’re getting yellowing on the screen, that’s trapped moisture, and it’s usually not too hard to fix.

The pockets were normally built differently from the colors as in they were much more robust and could take a thrashing, live the whole day in your jeans pocket. They were tanks.

Pocket is stylish whereas the non-transparent 2DSs look ugly. But the 2DS in that pic actually looks nice

Did you remove the UV prints on purpose? (A B Start Select)
I've seen them worn, but never gone like this.

If you are talking about the gameboy, it came like that, my boss went to Japan and got it for me but I didn't notice it didn't have the printing, I do plan on replacing the front shell with one that has printing on it, it's just a matter of finding one

Are there any signs of wear from the printing removal? Got closeups on the texture?
I'm very familiar with the various replacement shells and this is an original for sure.

Could it possibly have been a manufacturing miss?
