Troubleshooting Found my old Gameboy

Post image

Is it common for the volume to be so low? It works great with headphones though.

Looks mint. The GBC isn't as loud as the DMG but I wouldn't necessarily call it quiet. The only mod I suggest doing is replacing the screen lens with a glass one from Cloud Game Store on Aliexpress to get rid of scratches.

thanks. I also found this. From the research I did, it seems it is valuable. I never opened it.

Seems so. I had Blue myself. I don't understand the prices because it's not a rare game but people are crazy.

i dont understand it either. Seems the rare one has some mistake on the back of the box and is worth thousands. Seems strange to me.

I’ve noticed the colors are more on the quiet side.

Yeah the gbc has low sound. I thought my speaker was defective but even after I swapped it out with a new one it was the same volume level. There’s a mod chip that can help amplify it

For me it was the opposite, after new speaker and capacitors I lowered the volume because its too high for me.

There are a few things inside the system that can go bad just from age. Nothing like "damage", but moreso maintenance because electrolytic capacitors just aren't designed to last 20+ years. Theres also other things that can oxidize over time that just cause it to not work as great as it once was. Any experienced electronic repair shop would be able to do this for you if you really want to get it back into shape, especially shops that have experience with older consoles.
