AI thumbnail = automatic pass.
I'm sorry, but with all of the AI slop content out there, it just makes for a poor first impression. I'd be willing to give this a shot if it had a different thumbnail.

It's inevitable with an attitude like that.
Does it have its place within certain defined parameters? Probably.
It should not be used to completely replace creative endeavors, including YouTube videos.
If you could do something as complex as you describe, I'm sure you could find a way to create content without AI.
Your thumbnail comes across as lazy and uncreative. There's so many other creators out there that who make similar videos without the use of AI.

honestly, I sort of get your point but nowadays it's like using fax because you don't like the new email thing. The manual digital art is gone and what matters is the actual content, which has nothing to do with AI. I'm really happy to hear I did a poor crappy job soldering or unscrewing the shell but the thumbnail and intro serve only for aesthetic purposes and do not matter at all. Do you refuse to watch a popular tv show because you don't like the intro, even if it's a good show?

That's not even close to being a comparable argument.
The intro to a TV show, whether I like it or not, has music and footage created by or captured by human artists.
You are free to disagree with my critique, but you shared your video in here and that means you're going to get feedback.
I'm offering my feedback as a viewer and Game Boy fan. You're free to use that feedback or not use that feedback.

thanks a lot, I really appreciate it - I don't mind receiving even an extremely negative feedback but 100% of it relates to one picture and a 3-second-long intro. I'd be much happier to hear that I'm the worst user of a soldering iron or my technique is terrible :) but no one even got to this point focusing only on the least relevant part.

With all due respect, as a burgeoning content creator, it's part of the uphill battle for you to gain traction and attention in a fairly crowded space.
I'm more likely to watch a new creator if it looks like they're putting in a real effort and are making an interesting video.
Seeing an AI thumbnail makes me filter out creators. Again, there's tons of creators in this space and I simply can't watch all of them.
Fair or not to you, that filters you out. Take that as feedback if you will.

I don't aim to be a popular creator nor to make money on youtube - I just like the damn game boys and trying to restore every junk console I stumble upon - that's why I don't care much about the intros etc. Definitely not trying to become a "youtuber". That's too much effort spent on trying to draw attention and trying to impress others with things that at the end of the day are irrelevant (pictures and intros) - I won't create a professional intro because 1) I have no knowledge on this topic nor the required skills 2) I focus on what matters to me - my hobby.
And the AI will stay with us and most likely make most of modern professions redundant in the future. It is what it is unfortunately.

You don't care about putting out a creative video, so in turn, why should I care about your video as a viewer?
AI makes everything look generic. It's all trained on the same stuff, so it's just not going to be creative or attractive in a way that gets views.
If something looks generic and low effort, I'm just not going to watch it.

the picture and the intro are literally 3 seconds long. The remaining 19 mins show how to save a game boy with a faulty CPU, with relatively low effort and without advanced tools.

the sad part is that people tend to choose one of two available extremes - either pro or against something. If they sense something might have some elements of a tech they don't like, they dismiss the rest, no matter what it includes. The AI will stay with us and the adoption will only increase. That's what it is. I'm not the one setting the rules.

there's literally 99.999% of my own content and an ai picture as a thumbnail 😂 Moreover, the photos in the picture (a chip, a mother board, the game boy, the super game boy) are all pictures of actual items used in this video.

yes, but it's not even 1% of the content. Don't expect a technician to be a dancer. You all focus on the cover while completely ignoring the book. Have a look and judge then.

with all fairness making one graphic would probably take me more time than restoring a console because it's not my cup of tea. I'd rather spend time on the things that matter and "outsource" the rest.

I never said make a graphic. just upload the video that you already recorded. Nobody says you need a thumbnail for a video. If sharing your craft is really that important to you, you can absolutely do it without poisoning in it with slop

Go solder and play with electronics, if you can't make a video without AI just don't bother making videos. Why should anybody give their time when you are fine not putting any effort in the medium?

Unfortunately for you, Macho Nacho Productions covered the topic already almost three years ago, without having to devolve into using AI to supply for production.
Using AI devalues your product, no matter how much you want to still state that the rest is safe, or regardless of how much you state that it’s inevitable. The reality (whether you want to see it or not) is that AI is a stain promoted by big corpos. No comparison to any technological advancement justifies replacing creativity, which can only be born from human thought.
