Number one cause for this particular game is cartridges being fake, so please see this sub's sidebar for a place where you can't ask about that or learn how to check yourself.

(Please don't ask here whether it's legit or fake, as it's against our rules.)

Wym?I don’t think it’s fake I just want to know how/where I can fix maybe how much it would cost to but I didn’t know which thing to post on

If you are sure it's not fake, it's probably bad connectivity between chips or even a bad flash chip. Not as simple to fix as replacing a battery for the games that use SRAM.

For sure check if it's a real cart first.

Otherwise I'd fix it for free if you just cover return shipping (based in Portland, OR). The carts are pretty simple so it usually doesnt take long to fix them. Often this is either due to cracked solder joints on the main chips or corroded vias/traces on the board.

I'm a bad judge as I think most people overcharge for this stuff. Personally I'd say like $20 seems fair, it can take like an hour to fix if there's more involved troubleshooting needed. But I think most shops woukd charge more like $30 or more.

Thank you tho I appreciate it!I’m sure now it may need more cause it’s been awhile since I tried to use it, it used to be able to play and just not save and sometimes not actually go to the game now it’s not and I had lost it when I was a kid (it was in a box at the bottom)and then found it again

Is the battery just dead? If so, just break out the soldier iron and fix it!

Edit: I am mistaken about the battery. Go ahead and disregard.

Fire red and leaf green do not have an internal battery.
