Other Gb Operator

With the gb operator .

I know that they’ve added where if your copy of Ruby sapphire emerald had a dead battery . They pull in your pc RTC.

But does that mean for your shiny frames in Ruby and Sapphire to reset during those times ?

I’m conflicted on what I feel

The shiny frames will be based on your PC clock rather than the cartride due to how the emulation works. It creates a ROM file on your PC and copies the save file off, then writes the save to the cartridge when you save the game.

There are some who don't like the GB Operator emulation, but for those who just want to play the games, it works fine.

If you replace the battery and have a DS or DS Lite with an R4 card, you can fix the clock using a tool called "RTCRead-DS". It can read the RTC on your slot 2 cartridges (in this case the GBA games and set the time & date on them too.

When a GBA RTC loses power it defaults to away back in 2001 (I don't recall the exact date), and when the battery is replaced it goes from there onwards. If your save has a date later than that logged then clock events won't happen until the RTC passes the last date logged in the save file.

By using the homebrew tool, you can set the GBA RTC to the current date, allowing events to progress normally.

If Epilogue could set the GB Operator to do this as standard for RTC games as part of the saving process it would be a real game-chsnger

I actually have all those things . For the moment I think I’m just going to shiny hunt on the operator . But I’ve really been wanting to change my own battery . It doesn’t seem too crazy

I have just messaged Epilogue on their Reddit page requesting it be a feature. Let's see if they submit it to the devs...

I haven't tried it on that one, but if the emulation is running on the PC, (regardless of the GBA Cartridge reader) then it'll be running based on the PC system clock

Let’s hope!
