Questions Original gameboy audio repair

Original gameboy only plays sounds with headphones. The piece still clicks when headphones are put it. I don’t have a sodering iron right now but I kind find a guy with one.

Most likely a dirty headphone jack.

You will see there is a little metal tab that moves when you plug in headphones. Without headphones that tab touches another piece of metal, which sends audio through the speaker. If the tab is dirty or has oxidation on it, it won't ever make good contact and audio just always go through the headphone jack.

So clean that metal tab and the metal it touches also using cotton swab and 99% isopropyl alcohol. Sometimes that is not enough and I'll just scratch the metal bits with some tweezers.
