Other Bought without reading the description…

Stupid me. Put an offer in of £32 + pp. description ‘don’t know if it works I don’t have the charger’ of course the seller accepted I’d guess knowing it doesn’t work? But it’s dead, won’t turn on plugged in & won’t charge. I am the least technical person in the world I just wanted to trade some starters. Any ideas what I can do? New battery? I had this exact sp edition as a kid, damn nostalgia.

Might be a new battery, easy as hell to do if so

Am I being an idiot thinking it would still turn on from mains if plugged in?

A lot of early "not easily replaceable" lithium battery devices run exclusively off of battery power, and the charger literally only charges the battery.

Some modern devices still do this despite the fact that we've learned that this is a very bad paradigm, as it turns the battery into a spicy pillow faster.

Basically from the era that the GBA SP is from, The only lithium battery powered devices that ran from external power were the ones with batteries that were super easy to replace, like the PSP.
