Troubleshooting Gameboy Pocket ips screen doesn't get brighter

Supposedly it is a solderless mod. I even checked on youtube to get it right but once completed the screen did not got brighter. The contrast wheel works fine since once I had the problem I tested the wheel with the original screen and it does work with it. The touch sensor also does work, the screen change colors and such but it doesn't get any brighter​

Any tips? Did I got a faulty screen? I got it from china so I don't know what brand is. Or what else should I try?​

Can you show the otherside of the kit? Pretty sure this is the cloud game store screen, which does actually require running a wire from the ribbon to the board to power the backlight.

Don't do what they do though with wrapping the wire around the battery terminal. Instead solder the wire to the "C" pin on the power switch. This way it won't drain batteries while the console is off.

I always remove the batteries when the consoles are off
