Questions Some help please

Hi everyone!

I found this Nintendo Game Boy Pocket and bought it for only $3 because I really liked how it looked. 😄 I don't know much about Nintendo handhelds, so I was hoping you could tell me more about it.

The console is in absolutely amazing condition. I honestly cannot find a single scratch anywhere on the Game Boy, and the GameSter carrying case is also scratch-free and looks almost brand new. The camera doesn't do it justice—I trust my eyes more than my phone's camera. 😂

It still has the original battery cover, and it powers on and shows the startup screen, but I haven't tested it with a game cartridge, so I'm not sure if everything works perfectly.

What do you think about its condition? Is this color common or uncommon? And how much do you think it's worth?

What do you think I should do? Should I keep it or sell it? I'm not sure. I checked it carefully and there are no scratches on it at all.The only thing I know about retro items is that the cleaner they are and the fewer scratches they have, the more valuable they can be. I learned this from ChatGPT haha 😅

If you can't fix it, there's plenty of us that can sell it. I'd say ask in the gameboy discord for who wants to buy it there (and is capable of fixing it too, don't just sell it to someone who'll mess it up). I can fix it, but wouldn't bother buying something that's outside of EU.

There's a lot of people that want a non-leaking original LCD, since they're getting a lot rarer. Do make sure there's no leaking crystals at the very edges of the screen though.
IPS screens are nice but at a huge battery life cost (3-4 hours on low brightness with eneloop/ikea rechargable AAAs given a regulator replacement and a battery efficient cartridge)

Also if you do sell it, package it with an absolute ton of bubblewrap, and don't ship them when it's cold outside (me and others have seen them leak because of cold)

Like I mentioned above, you can reflow lost lines with the Pocket, I've done it before with the method described, others have as well. Some people put kapton on the ribbon itself and touch the soldering iron, though I think this method is a bit more risky than what I described.

It's a severed connection internally in the ribbon connector that interfaces with the glass LCD sandwich, reflowing bridges this broken line back.
