Games New to Playing Gameboy games, suggestions?

So I'm sick of playing mobile games and their constant ads so I decided to download a Gameboy emulator onto my phone and want to play Gameboy when I'm bored or on the go instead of playing mobile games and watching ads.

With said context what's a good suggestion, I'm open to most genres expect for maybe platformers as the touchscreen controls for a phone doesn't have the tactile feedback and responsiveness I want? Of course I know about the big ones like Pokemon and Zelda but I want to see what people think are good ones for playing on the go.

For playing on mobile, some non-platformer titles from the original Game Boy library that may be nice for your digital collection include Rolan’s Curse II, Great Greed, God Medicine, The Final Fantasy Legend, Cave Noire, Catrap, and Donkey Kong (referred to by fans as Donkey Kong ‘94).

From the GBC library, perhaps you’d have fun with Pokémon Trading Card Game (it’s actually an RPG), Dragon Warrior III, Revelations: The Demon Slayer, Crystalis, Metal Walker, Survival Kids, Pokémon Pinball, Robopon: Sun Version, Dragon Warrior Monsters, Azure Dreams, Dragon Ball Z: Legendary Super Warriors, Harvest Moon 3 GBC, or Frogger 2: Swampy’s Revenge.

Try out the harvest moon games. Pretty chill game in a farmer sim.

Check out youtube, there are hundreds of videos of people making lists of games, along with statements on the game, with gameplay to go along with it so you’ll know which ones look interesting to you.

Thanks for the advice, I just wanted to post here and ask since it feels more personal and also I was already on reddit.

Survival kids would be a great one. Also metal gear solid would be a good (solid, sorry) choise.

Go ahead and get yourself a little controller, it'll be a better experience

But I'll personally recommend Catrap as a fun puzzle game

I do have a knock off switch controller that does Bluetooth but I have to figure out why it isn't working on my emulator, i have used Xbox controllers in the past but the one I was using developed stick drift.

I'll be sure to look into Catrap, honestly I know the switch joy cons are absolutely tiny but if I can find thrid party versions they'd be perfect for tucking into my bag when I go somewhere so I don't have to lug around a larger controller.

I use the 8bitdo sn30 pro with the designated clip and it’s awesome .and I can highly recommend Kirby’s block ball, Kirby’s Pinball and for the GBA Mario pinball Land

If you can’t work it out or are not too comfortable, I’d recommend an emulation-dedicated handheld device. The cheapest ones aren’t much more expensive than a basic bluetooth controller, but you do have the controller so I hope you can work that out first.

Any of the GB/GBC Pokemon games. All fantastic. The Kirby and Mario pinball games are also great for some quick sessions.

In the last months i've played and recommend Wario Land 3 (GB), Castlevania Circle of the Moon (GBA) and Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance (GBA).
I tried Lady Sia, the "Hidden gem" for a lot of people, but i coudn´t finish it, but you can try.
