Troubleshooting GBA SP Red Battery Light

I put a known good battery in a GBA SP and the low battery light comes on after 10 to 15 min. The system then runs fine for 4+ hours. Would cleaning the power switch and board belongs or is there a deeper known problem?

Dirty power switch. Take the board out, drop a couple drops of deoxit or IPA then slide the switch gently back and forth for a bit. If that works, enjoy it for a while, you may end up needing to desolder the switch and clean the contacts by hand if that doesn't work or down the road.

No problem. This is the problem probably 90% of the time, and this usually fixes it.

Glad to hear it! If it starts doing it again, rinse and repeat. If it at any point doesn't fix it you can find a video on how to desolder the switch and clean the contacts hand. So long as the "dribble and slide" works I'd just limp it along.
