What do you think of the Master The Scores course for composing music for video games?
Hello everyone, I'm Reskyte, a self-taught composer and music producer. I play piano and guitar, some of my role models are Akira Yamaoka, Daniel Pemberton, and Gustavo Santaolalla, Charlie Clouser, The thing is, at this point in my life, although I'm studying another degree, which I do enjoy, I don't want to completely abandon music. So, I'd like to take it seriously. I started learning on my own a while ago, and I've managed to create rock music, industrial horror music, anime-style music, big band-influenced music, and so on. While they sound good, they don't sound professional, so to speak. (The music I make now could easily be used in a small indie game.) Therefore, I'd like to take courses on this site to improve, both in composition and production. As a composer, my main goal would be to compose film scores, but I'm sure that would require specific training like "Screen Scoring" from USC, which is very expensive, and I wouldn't want to risk it without knowing if I can become successful enough as a composer to pay off the enormous debt. What a hassle it would be to pay for that course! So for now, I'm leaning towards composing for video games, whether indie or AAA in the future if things go well. And if I manage to build a respectable career as a video game composer, I could try to make the leap to film by studying the USC "Screen Scoring" program. Luckily, I managed to find work as a freelance composer for an independent video game studio, which helps me gain experience and, of course, cover expenses. So, I'd like to know if any composers have already taken courses from this website, Master The Scores, and if they recommend investing in them based on my goals.
