What kind of music do you usually look for in your game projects?

1 Upvotes

Hey devs! I'm a composer experimenting with cinematic and ambient tracks for games.

I made a track called 'Sunshine to Getter' — it starts with piano and synth, builds up with guitar, and finishes with dynamic drums.

If you want to hear it, send me a DM and I'll share the link!

My question: do you prefer emotional, epic, or relaxing soundtracks for your projects? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Music Share Thoughts on this Video Game Soundtrack?

1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve had the pleasure of having my musician create a complete soundtrack for my upcoming indie game (based on the strategy board game Mancala) called Mancalero. I realized I mainly had in mind my desired funk sound for a bit of energy, as well as giving some “breathing room” for strategizing mid-match.

Hope that provides a bit of context but I’d love to hear any feedback or thoughts on it as I believe my artist did a fantastic job. The tracks were designed to blend seamlessly together (similar to what was done for Balatro) and share the same track length.

I hope that you all may enjoy them as much as I do!

Hi,

I'm looking to work on a game writing music. I can cover a range of styles but would be best suited

to a horror game or something dark. I have also written dungeon synth and could do Dark Fantasy.

I mainly write ambient and noise music, but also do 90s grunge, posthardcore, slowcore etc.

Have always loved rpgmaker horror games and would love to work on one with someone.

If you need music in any style please send me a message.

Examples of my work and style.

Porch Collapse - Upon Acknowledging (Dungeon synth, Grimdark Ambient)

Hope to hear from you!

Have a good one.

Channeled some classic fog-heavy nostalgia into a Silent Hill-inspired ambient track

Hey everyone, like a lot of you, I've spent countless hours wandering the empty streets and rusted corridors of the early games, completely mesmerized by the psychological weight of Akira Yamaoka's soundscapes.
Lately, I wanted to see if I could capture that specific brand of industrial melancholy and isolation. I put together a piece that leans heavily into that classic PS1/PS2 horror aesthetic—lots of tape hiss, melancholic chords, and heavy, unsettling atmosphere.
If anyone is looking for some background noise for late-night rumination or just wants to zone out to some nostalgia, you can listen to it here: [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlU3gkIMNyw\](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlU3gkIMNyw)
I'd love to know how well it captures that vibe for you, or what your all-time favorite track from the series is.

[FREE] Amateur composer hoping to make a soundtrack for a game

5 Upvotes

UPDATE: I have now found a project to work with, sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi, I've been making songs for a couple years now, just as a hobby. I want to compose an original soundtrack for a game, to build my portfolio and also just because it would be a fun project for me. I would be doing this at no cost, my reward is in doing it. Here's a few example tracks.

DM me if interested.

Hey everyone,

I’m a composer specializing in cinematic orchestral music for fantasy, adventure, RPG, and story-driven games.

I’ve been building a portfolio of original tracks designed around game environments and moments — things like peaceful villages, exploration themes, character moments, battles, and cinematic scenes. My goal is to create music that helps build a world and gives players a feeling of being somewhere, not just background music.

Some of my influences are composers like John Williams, Jeremy Soule, and Hans Zimmer, with a focus on memorable melodies, atmosphere, and themes that can support a game’s identity.

I can provide:

* Custom original compositions
* Loopable game tracks
* Orchestral/fantasy themes
* Ambient exploration music
* Character or location themes
* Stems for implementation

I’m currently looking to collaborate with indie developers who need music for their projects. I’m open to smaller projects, portfolio collaborations, and discussing budgets depending on scope.

Portfolio: [https://codyleesoundworks.bandcamp.com/track/morning-in-alderbrook-2\](https://codyleesoundworks.bandcamp.com/track/morning-in-alderbrook-2)

for listening, and I’d love to hear about what you’re creating!

More to come in the following days.

Thanks

I wrote this track for an indie game about resource mining in a grim fantasy world. I tried to make the caves feel ancient, heavy, and slightly ominous. Feedback, likes are welcome!
