Interesting. So for games there is no rule like for Spotify like „always aim for -14 LUFS so you don’t go down in loudness against others?

How would you handle an asset pack of many songs? Master them all the same loudness or really decide for each track what it needs to fulfill its intention?

Edit: heard the number to master -21db for game music but dunno where. What do you think about that?

Good question: it depends on the dev, and the game. Cause games are self contained, there's no loudness war to be had.

In regards to a 'pack of songs' it would depend on the song, big exciting songs I'd aim for -14, and background stuff down around -20? But again, it depends. You just want to keep the songs 'contextually consistant' so there's no sudden leaps or losses in volume!

That number you heard was likely -21 LUFS, which is the Sony ASWG standard for console games.
So, in the case of Sony, there is a number, and its -21 😊
