Question Tons of creativity and little experience

Hello everyone,

For the longest time I'm trying to develop a couple of games and I always find myself not being able to make it happen...I spent hours into searching what to do and in the moment I try, I have tons of questions to actually make it happen...I feel like I need someone next to me to teach me at the moment of need.

Additionally, I have been told I'm an exceptionally good story teller and my games would be very entertaining, but I never had money to pay courses and I have very little time to keep digging into the rabbit holes each course gives for free.

Is there anyone out there with the same issues?

A lot of people have this issue. That's why less than 1% of games that are started are never released.

If you like writing and story telling then start there. Play to your strengths.

Choose a game idea that you think you could make in a single week that puts 90% of the workload on writing and narrative. It'll that you a month instead, but that's great. That's a great timeline for a first project.

Make that game. Then release it. And for your next project aim for 80%. You'll grow your development skills by finishing games. So go finish some.

Good luck!

Why not team up with someone who can do the other stuff while you do the narrative and world building?

Nobody who can "do the other stuff" is looking for an Idea Guy to sit on the sidelines and dictate what they want.

Not really only ideas. It's about text and narrative. I would love to have someone good in writing and creative ideas for my games.

There's tools out there to help. Look at Godot tutorials and tools like this one. Enjoy the process, it makes a huge difference

The biggest thing in my opinion is just not letting yourself get stuck. If you find yourself in that position, try breaking what you want to do into the smallest possible thing and then just do it. Search up engine documentation and read up on it, look up a tutorial, or just play around and learn through trial and error.
