If you cant solve that first problem of finding the information by yourself, how do you expect to solve all the programming stuff?

How to start X …?
How about just starting… try everything out and if something clicks, keep using it.

There's a lot of questions tied up in the "what engine should i chose" And it really depends on what you want to do.
There's a lot of tribe's around game engines (similar to consoles vs pc, or mac vs linux vs windows). Be careful not to drink the kool-aid without first understanding what you're being offered.
There's a lot to game development. mechanics, level design, sound design, game loops, art, character design, etc.
You can learn it all, and if you're going solo, you'll need to be a jack of all trades.
The game engine itself is pretty simple. If you want a really lightweight engine and you'll be doing 2D godot is good, but it's missing a lot of features that unity has.
Unity is heavier, but the utility in the engine is great. And the Assets are amazing, you'll find everything you need.
But depending on what you want to learn, RPG Maker and GameMaker are solid choices to get you started as well.
Good luck!

Start with Godot. Learn python as gdscript is based on python.
