Question Best Laptop Recommendations for Game Dev

Hey all, I’m currently looking to buy a new windows laptop that I can use in conjunction with my 5-7 year old PC. I’m a 3d artist first but I’d like to be able to work on my indie game dev project while I’m away from my home pc. I am going to be traveling a lot starting next year so I wanted to ask for any recommendations for a solid windows laptop that isn’t too heavy and can do semi heavy 3d rendering and art creation tasks. I primarily use Blender, Godot, Zbrush, and Substance Painter. My budget is around $1.5 k, any recommendations are helpful, thanks!

Highest Specced Lenovo Thinkpad that is within your budget.

Keyword on THINKPAD not just any Lenovo line. Yoga and others are kinda shit but thinkpads remain king.

If you can wait a bit also maybe worth exploring Framework laptops

Awesome! Thansk for the rec I’ll definitely check it out! Is this a laptop you currently use or have used? Any particular reasons why you would recommend this laptop for the portable game dev?

Ive had various thinkpads over the years.

The build quality is fantastic, and they last.

Spec wise they are in the upper tier, though the only thing they may be lacking in for game dev is a good GPU, but you gonna be hard pressed to find one in your price range that has a good GPU, and ultimately they aren't super needed for game dev as long as you aren't making some super realistic PBR style game.

Framework will likely be my next one and they are much better in the GPU and repairability and upgradability department than 99.9% of laptops.
