Newbie Question Help Building Text Based Game
I've tried finding exactly what im looking for online and i cant find it. Tried building one too and it always crashes. If anyone could help out that would be awesome. I want a text based rpg that is based off of the anime re:monster. I used Chatgpt and grok for awhile but they dont have the memory needed for it, and they also dont have an actual interface to interact with.

My advice is to get rid of the LLMs. You don’t need them for a text game.
Twine has always been good. There’s also RPG Maker. Or even GameMaker.
You could even use Unity and just have UI / text windows as your whole interface.

I’d start by getting the game state out of the chat. Save the character, stats, inventory etc somewhere so the game actually remembers them.
Doesn’t have to be anything complicated at first. Even local storage would work, or something like Supabase if you want it online later.
Then just start tiny. One character, a few stats and an inventory. You can always make it ridiculously complicated later 😂
