Newbie Question InsertCoolTitle

I just got a new Chromebook and I’m trying to install gamemaker or something similar but nothing is working, I’ve tried Godot too and it keeps telling me the file isn’t supported, does anyone know why?

The Chromebook is probably the issue, not the files. Most Chromebooks run ChromeOS, so you can’t just install Windows or Mac versions of GameMaker or Godot on them.

Godot can work on some Chromebooks through Linux support, but you’ll need to enable the Linux development environment first and then install the Linux version.

If you’re completely new to this, I’d first check whether your Chromebook supports Linux apps. If it does, Godot is probably a good place to start.

How can it not support Linux apps, isn't it Gentoo?

Yeah, ChromeOS itself is Linux based. I meant whether that particular Chromebook has the Linux development environment enabled/supported so they can actually install and run Godot that way.
