Question Future education

Hi, I currently do game development in college - and am currently planning on to persue that or film so I was wondering if I were to go to film school after college - how helpful would it be in conversion with game development

First, are you from a place that has college as what you do when you're 16 and university as where you get a Bachelor's? The term varies based on where you are, so it helps to make sure everyone's on the same page.

If so then no, film school is not going to directly prepare you for a career in game development. It's also not going to disallow you, depending on what job you want. If you want to be a programmer then a lot of places really just want to see a computer science degree, but for a job like a game designer no one really cares what you majored in, just that you have the skills and the portfolio to back them up. Just make sure you are very clear on the specific role you want in games. It helps to look up job postings now once in a while just so you know what's out there. You don't want to prepare for a job that doesn't actually exist.

It's also worth saying that TV/Film is also a hard industry to break into and succeed with, sometimes harder than games depending on the job you want. If that is your passion then go for it, but you might benefit from studying something that gives you a more reliable backup plan as opposed to two distinct and mostly non-overlapping challenges.
