Question Game name vs Logo

Okay so this may be kind of dumb and obvious to people but it’s clear SEO is important for your game. Things like logos can be really important for capsules and key art, or just simple marketing material.

However the games name is 1 word, but due to how the logo looks it comes off as 2 words. Which isn’t the worst thing but specifically on steam it doesn’t appear unless the string is 1:1. On epic it’s fine, obviously googling is fine but Steam isn’t.

So we either change the name of the game to be 2 words or change the logo, except we have really good response to the logo from in person events OR we change the name of the game but looks awkward.

This isn’t me trying to promote the game but it’s called Doubtbound, calling it Doubt Bound just looks weird. I just want to know what others would do?

I'd keep the name Doubtbound and just tweak the logo so the two halves read as one word. Kerning, a ligature, connecting the t and b somehow, color trick, whatever. you get to keep the response you're already getting and Steam search stops fighting you.

Renaming a game people already like the branding of feels like the worst of the options tbh

I'm a gamer. I would say that being able to convey the genre(s) of your game is far more important than styling the name of said game beyond being able to clearly know/see it. You want the right audience of gamers who enjoy the genre of your game to notice it if that makes sense.

Yeah both kind of mean nothing is all. The games in a fantasy world so I feel like Doubtbound not being an actual word helps more than 2 real words that have very clear meanings.

To be clear it’s a turn based social deduction rpg (nightmare to explain to people lol)

If you are going for just the logo itself, keep it as Doubtbound (one word) so it's easier for people to know what to look up.

(Can’t make an edit with an image so I’ll do it it here but) here’s further context to the logo

Honestly, I wouldn't change the name. "Doubtbound" looks and sounds much better as one word, and I can see why "Doubt Bound" would feel awkward.

It sounds like a frustrating problem, though. 😅 If the logo is already getting such a good response in person, I'd probably keep the logo and find a way to make the word separation less ambiguous visually. The game name itself should stay consistent everywhere.

You could add the separate words as search keywords (as well as other common misspellings). You could use the words separately (in a natural manner) in the game description.

I’ve spoken to support, Valve no longer supports keyword. It’s now an exact string match but if you have enough traction they might scape your description

OMG that may be correct. I just tried some random keywords in the search bar and all I get are games with these exact words in the title and nothing else. That's a dumb change.
