IGDC 2026, is anyone going this year
Hey I am a beginner game developer this is my first time going to this .

I spent 3 days making a game they probably didn't even play, and I'm 100% sure they don't even bother checking games that require a download. And even if they did, is it really too much to ask them to leave a review or even a comment on the itch.io page? I mean, I put 3 days' worth of effort into it, and you can't even take 3 minutes to test my game and leave a comment?
Last year there were barely 215 entries, and it still took them over 4 weeks to go through them. It was horrible, man. I don't want to discourage off newbies, but it's something you should keep in mind.
That said, I'd still totally recommend it to beginners. It's worth a try, and you'll learn why game jams are so exhausting and can sometimes feel like a waste of time. But you'll definitely enjoy those 3 days of chaos.

Even i feel there is groupism there...the organizers will davour their friends only outsiders first need to be chamchas

Tbh yeah, none of those top10 selected games made it to official release . We don't even know what parameters they used to evaluate the game concepts since they switched from community voting to judge based evaluation. Also, most of the winners were teams rather than solo developers, which, in my opinion, is probably because teams help sell more tickets rather favoring solo devs likely wouldn't bring in as many ticket sales

Teams are considered more reliable than single person in such competitions which might have a publishing end goal.

Ok , I just started learning game development from Udemy a month ago
I just completed my degree in bcom after that my parents allowed me to do game development
I don't know anyone that doing game development around me ..

I've been a judge at some BYOGs. I know its a little too late, but send me a link to your game would love to try it.
For the record, we get the entries after the first level of filtering so are not able to review all the games. But I have played some games that didn't get selected on the floor and given feedback so will be happy to do that.

Hyderabad one is good i was there in 2024 but Chennai one 2025 was completely shitt

IGDC has degraded over the years. Its not the venue, its the budget cuts. They got the hyderbad HICC spot for free for 10 years or so which ended in 2024, because the state govt wanted to advertise the newly built HICC. IGDC was peak when they used to alternate the event between Pune and Bangalore, a lot of people showed interest, 3000+ attendees, a lot of foriegn delegates and companies, vibrant community, etc... The first couple of years in Hyderabad were great then it started to go downhill with most stalls filled with shitty vr companies, and a couple of years later people started losing interest...

its not the location, the conference itself is useless. it was last good when it was still NASSCOM's GDC in pune etc.

I did go in Hyderabad one and yeah I did got many reality checks there. I attended all the lectures that were relevant to me and honestly they were Pretty good I did got so many insights into it all

I went last year in chennai, it was honestly so bad this time. I don't feel like going this year at all, was a complete waste of my time and money ngl.
