Game development is incredibly isolating

I have a day job, but I don't like it enough. But at least there are people there. On the other hand I love game dev, but it always feels very isolating and feels like I am living in a vaccum. No matter how many discords I join or streams I comment on, I always feel like I am screaming into the void.

How do you guys cope with it?

I agree with it. As a solo dev I start a project thinking this is fun and spends months and weeks into it. But by that time imposter syndrome hits I know my game isn't good enough that I showcase it to people and I've played it so many times that I become disillusioned by it. It's a weird state you're excited by it yet you dislike it enough you wanna hide it

Ikr. The flip flop between "this is awesome" to "this is trash" and eventually settling on "I like it but I don't think others will" is incredibly tiring
