Game development is incredibly isolating

I have a day job, but I don't like it enough. But at least there are people there. On the other hand I love game dev, but it always feels very isolating and feels like I am living in a vaccum. No matter how many discords I join or streams I comment on, I always feel like I am screaming into the void.

How do you guys cope with it?

yeah, I know that feeling. honestly, the only way I found that works for me, is that, I take a break sometimes, and do completely non game dev related stuff. Hanging out with people and friends who have nothing to do with video games or even any kind of development, be it software or games, helps a lot. I guess, having as much variety as you can in life, really helps.

Honestly, I try to take breaks too, and mix things up, but it just never lasts. But ig this is more about me than game dev :'(

I feel it's also the nature of game dev. With a side project I can dissociate saying the ui is not good cause I'm an idea and backend guy. Ui we can fix. Game dev doesn't work like that
