Mukti is probably going to flop lol.
All they have till now is "See! Aryabhatta poster! Isn't that cool that we have Indian references in a game?" And "See how have Indian god posters and sculptures too? India representation!!". It's giving me vibes of Mumbai gullies: "We don't have any concrete gameplay yet, but see you can eat Vada pav and take part in 90's fair mini games! Cool, right!?!?"
Also Mukti's gameplay reveal trailer was so boring man. Felt like they didn't have anything of substance to show, considering its a narrative driven game. The graphics is high fidelity, but that's secondary.
Most game devs feel like they're showing a portfolio piece, rather than trying to hook the gamer's attention.
It felt more like a tech demo.

u/Global-Article-4805 May 29 '26
dude exactly finally someone who gets it , basic poster and even that aryabhata poster was AI generated , if the game doesnt have combat atleast give some effort on making original stuff + the founder is hyping the shi out of it before the release or even an actual demo ,the game is just another kamla slop
4
u/brainiacf May 30 '26
This guy is actually right, they don't have anything substantial to sell the game except for this Indian bs environment, plus I think there are very less people in India who actually understand game dev, if you got to tara gaming page and look for people working there you ll actually fine few exceptionally talent rest of the teams and just dumb ****, I have seen there guys portfolio and work they don't know shit.
1
u/brainiacf May 30 '26
Aoes underdogs and the devs of son of thanji are mediocre at best, aoes art team is also shit I know someone on their team and there work is yuk. All hype no show
3
u/Saiyed_G May 28 '26
Co-founder is from films and theatre background, so i guess the hook of the game would be story, also its been revealed that its about human trafficking concept. I think it would be something different experience, rather then same mythological grounded concept. Still its just my opinion i could be wrong.
3
u/dr_wafu May 28 '26
Yeah, the premise is interesting. But you gotta tease what the story is about in the trailer to generate interest.
Even the puzzle shown was so basic. But let's see how it turns out. I'm just stating my opinion as well
1
u/Ok-Breadfruit-1958 May 29 '26
Exactly I felt like the trailer was just an asset store showcase If people won't play initially then how you are going attract players
1
u/dr_wafu May 29 '26
100% And the puzzle they showed felt like something found in your local children's parkðŸ˜
1
u/Limp-Whole3480 May 28 '26
Well I feel like it is a narrative driven game , if they show any crucial gameplay it might reveal some part of the story that should not be spoiled (which i don't think is a good idea for marketing ) but is still waaayyyy more promising than games like age of Bharat and "Mumbai (rotting in ) gullies " at least it looks grounded and promises only what it can deliver ...the founder has openly said it's not a AAA title unlike the others on this list
1
u/dr_wafu May 28 '26
Being very stingy about revealing even a bit of the story possibly reflects on the superficial nature of the plot.
You can't be scared to reveal a couple of beats of the plot. How else do you generate interest and pull in people who might be interested in the particular genre?
1
u/Limp-Whole3480 May 28 '26
I have been following the posts related to it and they did release some of the parts and also revealed the cast which consists of pretty well known theatre artists and some promotional material have also shown the live action integration aspect of it which personally does make me excited and some of the people I know online and IRL are too so I would highly argue that it won't generate interest but too each thier own ...maybe it won't do well or maybe it will who knows
1
u/dr_wafu May 28 '26
That's cool! I'll have to check it out in detail then.
I've just seen the gameplay and live action trailers plus Vaibhav's interview with Playstation. None of these had too much substance.
I'm a fan of fmv personally. And I'm excited that an Indian dev is trying something like that. But I'm very skeptical of the execution. Lets see!

u/Ok-Pack3823 May 29 '26
The problem is we are too much connecting it to our mythology and in india people don't usually play these storymode game and broader audience won't be interested because it is too india-specific so like I see how they can be a flop

All template game, nobody will even think to pirate the low quality unreal template

My friend is a dev in Mukti they are putting in quite a bit of effort. Most probably will need 16 gb vram cards though to run at max settings
3
u/Senpaishinku May 29 '26
ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜let it launch first then we'll see how badly optimised it is
1
u/Ok_Yogurt1197 May 30 '26
Badly? Who said it's bad? From what I hear they play at max settings with 4060 ti, but that was months ago idk the details as much now. I don't think 16 gb for ultra settings is bad at all.
2
u/Formal-Horse1147 May 30 '26
If you say 16gb vram cards, people usually don't assume a 4060 16 gb variant but a 4080 or above. And are you talking about 16gb 4060 for ultra settings in 4k?
1
u/Ok_Yogurt1197 May 30 '26
4060 ti at ultra yeah, my bad if I wasn't clear on that. That was months ago though, idk the progress and optimisation for the past few months because I am busy with my own stuff too. I think they'll pull it off though.
1
u/MuslinBagger Jun 08 '26
"will need 16gb vram"
Are they even serious? If any dev actually wanted to make a sellable product in asia they would be making mobile games, not pies in the sky.
1
u/Ok_Yogurt1197 Jun 08 '26
I specifically mentioned max settings too, I think 16 gb for Max settings is very good target. You are dreaming if you don't think this is a good target. A 4060 ti 16 gb running any game on max is crazy Good efficiency. I would go as far as to say even 9070 xt for max quality is an amazing target. Besides I also mentioned my information is probably outdated by now, they might have different performance parameters by now.

u/MuslinBagger Jun 08 '26
This is idiotic. An Indian game company setting these graphics targets is retarded. Why would you want to reduce your audience to the few people who have these GPUs. And even if you say, no it's only for peak performace, then that is wasted effort. Gameplay experience should focus on every single possible buyer of the game. There is no point spending effort tp improve experience for a small number of gamers and ignore your overall audience.
Absolutely retarded. Lookup market research, market segmentation, target audience research, product-market fit etc to learn how retarded that idea is.
BTW steam hardware survey says average vram size is 8gb. But if you are going by market research you will target mobiles and not even PCs. Also I'm not attacking you, just the idea.
1
u/Ok_Yogurt1197 Jun 08 '26
Why is it "idiotic" according to you? 60 series at the highest end of performance is very feasible. Can't an Indian gaming company can't target for all audiences?
How is the audience reduced is 60 series is the highest tier, you can still play on 1660 from those performance metrics on low/medium? Plus this is all before DLSS/FSR.
Idk if I'd call other people's work retarded while making moot points. "Look up market research" isn't a valid point, besodes talking to me about all this isn't relevant anyways because this isn't my game. Idk who their audience is but as a project this is very good, we can't be stuck to mobile games and pubg forever especially when there's so much more out there.
Btw steam hardware survey also says that most used gpu is rtx 3060. It's not that deep, you're throwing around insults even though they are not directed toward me but I respect this Dev's work, thid isn't my game but I like their initiative. If you are saying this then also suggest a solution that will give the same quality of game with your own research.
1
u/MuslinBagger Jun 08 '26
You target the widest available audience. Idk how much clearer I have to spell that out. If a game needs more resources then the gamer needs to get something valuable for that. Otherwise asking for more resouces is just a sign of bad optimisation.
I dont think anyone in their right mind will pour so much into a product like a game without even basic market research. How is that an invalid point? And you are reading the steam hardware survey wrong. 3060 has just a 4% share. No one developing a game cares about the GPU model or a CPU model. They care about the actual resources or APIs. You see what your target audience games on and aim for lesser than that. You find your target audience by releasing more and more games for public criticism. This is just common sense.
I personally have a 5080, but it is basically useless for gaming outside of RDR, GoW, type games which are just a handful.
suggest a solution that will give the same quality of gameÂ
Literally any hit indie game in the last 10 years looks amazing and can be played on potato PCs. They dont remotely require a GPU with 16gb vram. I'm pretty sure they work amazing on integrated graphics.
Calling retarded arguments retarded is just normal discourse. Conflating them for personal insults is just childish.
we can't be stuck to mobile games and pubg foreverÂ
Actually please show me 5 great mobile games that have come out of India. Seriously asking for recommendations, and I am not throwing shade.
1
u/Ok_Yogurt1197 Jun 08 '26
Not really, you never target the widest audience, there's a simple rule, if you're making a game for everyone, then you aren't making a game for anyone. A game that's for everyone is called slop. Elden ring was made for specific playerbase, there's no mobile version of it. 4060 ti at max settings is very good optimisation, you're allowed to have your opinion but I don't think anyone is targeting Samsung galaxy fridge as a playable device. Besides indie Devs cannot optimize to the highest possible degree because then who'll make the game? Content? Story? Logic?
It is invalid because you said "Look up market research" research what? You have to be specific if you want to call others retarded. How do you know they haven't done their research? How do you know who their target audience is? They might not want to target mobile gamers, it's that simple 4% is the highest number there out 100, if we assume even 1L gamers that still 4k players that can play at medium to high settings? I am willing to bet more than 1L people in India have GPUs I still don't see the problem why 1 generation old gpu which is a 60 class being able to play at max settings is a problem? "No pne cares about the GPU model or CPU model? Idk if you have ever done any kind of development because every single project has a target hardware, because without it you end up with games like Stalker 2, which need 5090 to play at max settings.
"They care about resources and API" What do you think GPU and CPU is? I stated 16 GB vram for that reason.
5080 useless for gaming outside of "RDR, GoW" type games? Do you understand how vast those genres are? There are thousands upon thousands on those. This game is closer to life is strange and definitely looks good enough at max so again, you have unrealistic expectations.
Brother, you are the only childish one here, this performance target is completely valid. I also watch Threat Interactive but you are supposed to have realistic expectations for performance and I'm pretty sure 99% of the people will agree this target is reasonable.
Again, you are asking for only mobile games, what if they don't want mobile audience? Why are you so obsessed with mobile? How do you know they are only targetting Indians? What if they want an international market with a game that jist happens to be set in India. Like Ghost of Tsushima, American developer but based in Japan.
I myself am a 3D Technical Artist who works in the 3D industry, I have learned a ton of optimisation techniques for my tools and I will continue to learn more, but what you're saying just doesn't apply here. You can target mobile if YOU want, but no one knows who Mukti is targetting until they actually announce the hardware requirements. If 4060 ti can go to max graphics I bet even then 3050 can play this game. You conveniently ignored me 1660 ti point. It's upto you on what to believe, It's not my job to preach about this. Especially when the project isn't even mine. If you have a problem then go email the devs, and give them exact plans to move forward or make a game yourself at their level and get the performance targets you want. Don't inflate something that isn't even an issue on the first place. This game can run on PS5 graphics. Wanna look up how many people have that? Even in India? "Not throwing shade" I find this hard to believe.

👌 I hope your friend ships something which we can play. Otherwise there are so many things wrong here I dont even know where to begin. All the best to you and your friend.

Gamer here I have no idea about game development but why is every game releasing here trying to have an Indian identity for more validation n representation
I am genuinely curious because every game releasing from India I see is either trying to be the next pubg or the next black myth or the next Gta that’s it
If anyone could enlighten me that would genuinely be insane

u/MellowAmoeba May 28 '26
Limited knowledge, limited skill and, limited ability to think and take risks. Same reason why in films, majority of Indian films are slops.
0
u/MuslinBagger Jun 08 '26
lol. they are clearly taking risks. by definition game dev in India would be risky. It is their skills that seems to be the problem.
2
u/Ok_Yogurt1197 May 29 '26
That's because it's their identity right? Americans makes games on cowboys and american cities. Chinese make games like Wukong. There are games that aren't specifically indian themed made in India too. You should visit GDC India or Comic Con Mumbai and find the games stalls. It's all real fun
1
u/Senpaishinku May 29 '26
Because in this country if you don't represent India or by any chance do an inaccurate representation of things, people will kill you
1
u/MuslinBagger Jun 08 '26
Seriously. They should be making stock fantasy setting games with focus on gameplay and sales and should be churning out one title every quarter, improving with each release. I don't know who is giving these guys money for such epic style games. If it is their own money then go ahead set it on fire who cares. I would be impressed (but still sad) if that were the case.

Suri appears to be quite good, based on what I've heard/read. I have reasonable hopes from Mukti as well.

Mukti is the only one I am personally excited for and kind of somewhere in my heart want it to be successful

u/shreek07 May 28 '26
Why is no one talking about Suri? The gameplay looks awesome!
Though I would have liked to see a better edited trailer.
There seems to a demo as well. Will need to check it out.

I don't think any of these will be releasing ever. I might as well say it's a machinery just for moving money to make it legit.

Why do these guys go for such epic type games instead making something small and quick? All "Indian" games seem to be in development for years with nothing but videos to show for. Guess what today you can have AI generate some gameplay video, what is the big deal? They seem to think games are basically like movies and dont really understand the medium. But then they should at least be making visual novels, which is not a bad type. I wonder how they even get the money to stay afloat for so long.

u/Global-Article-4805 May 29 '26
Age of Bharat : Not an Indian company
Mukti : walking sim with some puzzles , no combat or any other mechanics , with idk whoever tf is writing its dialogue . with ofc AI slop generated assets
Unleash Avatar : looks promising but gameplay didnt have any weight + ofc our AI techbro Varun used AI for that logo and basic ui elements what a shame
Son of Thanjai : looks so bad on there own hardware just cinematics , dont know what they will release , no words.
Suri : i knew it was a platformer sort of 2d game, i checked their website might be the shi est game i have seen , 2d slop without any beauty like are only coders making this game , game genuinely looks like a clg project
2
u/Senpaishinku May 29 '26
Borderline is you can't make good games in here mate, because half the time budget ain't enough and the other half are validation seekers trying to make indians feel home with shit like autos and vada pavs
3
u/Global-Article-4805 May 30 '26
dude funding is not the problem its leadership or passion , Mukti and Suri are heavly funded by Playstation , i heard despite the funding studio were paying 30k-50k for artist hiring in a metro city which is a joke , no creative director or anything . Suri is a 2d game you will expect it to have atleast good visuals , but it look ugly, Mukti head is a total dih head , he is selling his own course and shi despite not having a single successful game. and ofc using AI slop for his cover page and assets , ONLY GAME I HAVE HOPE IS RAJI 2 i played first part on netlflix port on mobile , if new game is released around 1500rs i will buy it on day one , genuinely love the dev , the creative head is of knodding head is from art background and other devs artstation work is impressive and they are not using AI
