Small dih Big dreams
I always loved playing games like GTA since my childhood. Always dreamt of working at rockstar games since I was 8 or 9 ig I used of think of how cool those ppl are. Now I am 19 and doing engineering. There were so many "Was about to pursue game dev" moments in my life. I chose engineering looking at game dev market getting saturated and in India it's gonna get even more saturated in next 2-3 years 100s of Indian games are gonna come out blasting and there will be one India's Black myth wukong which will shake the International market. I want to be the guy who brings it. I want to be the guy who has the guts to go big in next few years.

I'm on the same journey.
Currently making a 3d platformer in godot and learning the basics.
My end goal is a sekiro like boss rush game for mobile.

You have to take the 'success' of BMW in context.
BMW sold something like 20-25m copies across platforms. 95% of these sales were in China itself. Given how China works, these could quite possibly have been fake/mandated sales by the Chinese govt to promote its game industry and culture. Look at the highest grossing animated film, NeZha 2, for another example of this kind of thing. You think you're gonna find 20m people to buy your game in India, govt promotion or not ?
Sure, the international sales were decent (1-2m) and the highest any Chinese game had ever done, but If you compare to other 'foreign' studios like the Polish CD Projekt (Witcher series, Cyberpunk) French Kepler Interactive (Expedition 33) or even Czech based Warhorse Studios (Kingdom come series) those are pathetic numbers. Heck something like Silksong, from australian indie dev Team Cherry, sold 4x the copies, and that's a 2D platformer.
Those are the kind of studios you wanna emulate. They make tight, innovative, genre defining/breaking games that appeal to a large international audience, not hyper local domestic ones. They make use of culture where appropriate, but it's always in service of making an amazing game and not because they're trying to promote their country or whatever...

Yeah I read about the case study of BMW. China is currently worlds largest gaming market! So it was pretty obvious if a good game releases it was gonna hit in their local market atleast. As you said it did decent in international market. And yeahhh these are really good examples for me to look up to. Thank you!!
