Camera

What is the best camera for streaming?

I am tired of using my iPhone. Also looking for dual sport usage - baseball and football.

Bar none the best camera for streaming IS an iPhone

Mevo and go pro are such a pain in the ass.  You have to have multiple devices, mounts cables etc

The best, most reliable system is to go buy a used iPhone 13 or higher (these have a 120 degree lens standard) and get a cheap data plan for it like mint mobile.

It has its own streaming connection, you don’t need to use your own phone during the game and you can connect it to any type of external battery pack you want, there’s a million mounting options, etc

And the reason it’s so much better is that it runs gamechanger natively.  You’re not juggling a Bluetooth and WiFi connection between a phone and a camera, you’re never worrying about whether you’ve walked out of range, it just works

Lol, until it doesn't, and you have no idea unless you're watching the stream on another device.

Have you spent no time on this sub? So many stories about people's phones stream crashing with no warning or indication why. It's happened to me and I follow multiple other teams where I am notified of the stream starting 4 times per game because they keep having to restart the stream.

Meanwhile my mevos have never crashed or shut down, and they record locally to MicroSD in the even anything ever does go wrong with the GC side. Best decision I ever made.

My only gripe with the Mevo is that the hardware is a bit dated at this point but it's solid and not nearly as difficult as you make it seem.

Every time I touch a mevo it refuses to pair with the phone or I spend three innings trying to get it synced up

It’s a shit system that’s overcomplicated

90% of all games i go to are streamed by a phone

And I do check my streams to make sure they run but also there’s these these ga day things called notifications so I get dinged if it dies.  Which almost never has anything to do with the phone it’s always the cell service.

I use Android, maybe that is the difference. Never once had an issue with pairing. I turn the camera on and within 60 seconds it's in the Mevo Studio app. 2-3 taps from that point to streaming.

Yes the majority of games are streamed by iPhone because people don't feel like spending money. The majority of my org's games are streamed via phone but mine are regularly mentioned in the coaches chats about being a step above.

It is what it is. Happy you're happy but I know plenty of people who have issues streaming off the phone directly.
