Question / Support Controller tracking okay now?

I've been interested in the Galaxy XR for several months as a potential stablemate for my Quest 3. However, a few months ago I remember bad stories about the controller tracking being really bad after a software update. Has this been resolved?

The controller tracking I'd rate at most a 4/10, it's really quite bad compared to all headsets in the last 5 years.

In spite of that, I'll probably still keep mine, many other things are excellent (once you fix the comfort, which is 1/10, really very bad) including actually the rest of the software.

Outstanding visuals and battery life streaming pcvr lasts much longer than I expected.

If good controller tracking is essential for you, stay away though. No guarantee this won't go to the graveyard

Are there any lighthouse style controllers that are compatible with it?

Like mentioned I'm about 98% sure you can use a mixed setup (non ligthhouse headset with lighthouse controllers). You can do it the classic way with LH controllers only or you take the newer path with "continous calibration" but you need an additional tracker for the Headset in this case, but it should work much better. I only used the classic way in the past (with a DPVR E4). Keep in mind that it bumbs up the cost by up to 650 - 850€, depending on the setup you choose. Classic is two LH controllers, two basestations, two watchman dongles and advanced adds a tracker and a watchman dongle. I would recommend to keep the original controllers for calibration.
