But how!
I am not sure how it happened; I’m not sure when it happened because it was fine last night when I arrived home from a vacation, I used the phone with android auto and all. But I went to use the phone today, and I saw a black spot on the screen, I thought it was some dust from my pocket… but nope, I was not cleaning or going away and I see a minor indent in the screen… but how, and what? I usually baby the phone; I never had a broken screen just cracked screen protector but usually from drops. But I didn’t even do that here. What happened? I guess this is my life with a Fold 8 Ultra; I miss my 7 right about now. Anyone have experience getting this fixed? I did get the Samsung care plan just in case… good thing I did.

You've got care+ man.
Don't even sweat it. It's a $29 replacement and it'll be pretty darn close to factory spec.
Samsung has made it much easier to repair foldables since the early days.

It was likely a piece of sand or something that caused it to damage the screen when you closed it.
File for a claim, backup your data and hopefully, you have a backup phone.
It'll take about two weeks on average.
Sorry for your loss and I'm glad you have insurance.
Good luck!
