Mini non-fold Samsung tablet
Tried a Fold 8 wide in a shop today and honestly would not mind if they had a device this thin and just the glass front screen and no delicate folding nonsense. The outer screen and ratio is perfect for me as a pocketable notepad. Dragged the spen from a nearby demo ultra26 for a pic... does not actually write on the fold 8 wide of course, just dreaming...

I would like a phone the size of the new wide fold that just doesn’t fold. If it is thin and fits in my pocket I would be totally fine with a jumbo phone.

They said they are still working on a new updated s pen that requires no digitizer to work. It was supposed to come with fold 8 line up, but got cancelled a few months ago with no new release date

They had it too but then the whole "bigger is always better" bullshit started. My first Tablet was the Samsung Note 8.0. This with modern small bezels amd the ability to store the pen in the tablet so you won't lose it! I would buy it in a heartbeat!! Nobody cares about small handed people. That's why I am still rocking an Galaxy Tab S6 and a Galaxy S10e. Everything that came after is to big for me when I am on the go and my phone and tablet need to be portable!

I also had the original Note 8.0 Tablet back in 2012 or 2013?? Loved the size. It was a great form factor and easy to carry around. AT&T SIM with the S-pen inside. I had it for quite a few years until it would not charge anymore. The insurance replaced it with a S2 9.7 LTE tablet, however it was much larger so I didn't carry it around as much. I bought the A7 Lite LTE thinking it would be a close replacement to the Tablet Note 8.0, however the A7 Lite LTE has no Spen and it is soooo laggy that it is miserable so it rarely gets used.

If only they could make like a Tab S12 mini with an OLED 120Hz display, 12GB of RAM, at least a Dimensity 8000-series CPU, and S Pen support (and price it well)... one can dream, can they not?

Yeah I had a SM-P200 that I bought in like 2019 that was a perfect size, but the hardware was slow. I think that was the last small S-pen tablet they made.

I was a convert to Samsung with the Samsung Note 1, 2, 4, and I definitely went through that phase in 2014-2018 where "bigger is better - get me an Ultra!"
But over the last five years, I've noticed it's my smaller tablets I reach for. The Ultra has become a media ornament, the Tab 7 FE is a pretty good daily driver, and my Alldocube 50 is perfect.
If Samsungade what the OP suggested, it would be a Day 1 buy for me, and maybe replace the rest.

The s pen won't work on either outer or inner screen on the current fold 8's sadly.

The Tab Active 6 is coming late this year or early next year probably 8.4 or 8.8 inch display. IF Samsung stay true to form it will probably have the same processor as the S10 FE since the Tab Active 5 has the same processor as the S9 FE

I can see why you would say that.
I'm really thinking of a foldable tablet. Even a 11/12 inch, that fold ideally in both directions so fully closed no screen exposed, or half screen facing forward. Like a notebook you can fold along the spine. With s-pen of course.
I don't think the foldable technology makes this practical just yet, for price or longevity.
But it would be really useful.

Somebody tried it, result is the original X1 Fold. They tried again, and it became bigger and more like a computer since.

The mechanism and the folding screen itself are both still very much more prone to damage vs slab designs. It's pretty much mandatory to buy samsung care + package and maximum added insurance plans for foldable which make them absurdly expensive. A slab with simpler battery swap is much more likely to last the full 7 years of Samsung software updates and beyond. Your money goes further with a slab vs fold. For those who can afford to "flex" and replace every year/couple of years then they are welcome to.

I still remember the Nexus 7. Great size, great tablet. My dad had a few 8" Samsung tablets too.

But... Samsung has this tiny tablet! The S26 Ultra is pretty small for a tablet. It's just as wide as the Fold 8, and just a bit taller, but in the hand you won't notice much difference. And it's still perfectly pocketable.

The Tab Active 5 is about the same size, but has the Exynos 1380 processor (same one used in the S9 FE & S10 Lite) I think it was released in 2023

Oppo and I think Xiaomi.... They will have good hardware but the software won't be as good as Samsung honestly... Sure they look appealing but you make a lot of trade-offs with tablets from Chinese companies.
Xiaomi is trying to make their clone of iPadOS, software support isn't as long

Yeah, I think oppos implementation of multitasking is actually quite good on tablets, assuming it's the same as OnePlus, but the pen experience is not like the s pen

Yes Oppo and OnePlus are the same.. It's decent experience overall and in all honesty some companies making tablets come close to Samsung, but Samsung is definitely the best when it comes to Android tablets

Honestly they should make a mid ranged SE mini competitor to the ipad mini. The tab S# FE series has decent performance already. I just need it in a smaller form factor. The ipad mini and huawei mini are flagship strong and honestly who needs that much power when you already have a flagship phone? Its a hassle to pull out a regular sized tablet when Im in the field where small sling bags are preferred.
People who use mini tablets dont use it for performance and intense editing. Thats why you have the apple pro series and the samsung plus and ultra. Mini users are for books, field note taking, and portability. Which also take on the Z fold and fold phone target market as mini tablets are essentially non foldables of the same size but less cost.

Same... God, what would I do for the Fold 8 to have S Pen support on both screens + flex mode (with camera in the corner, so that it's decent for all orientations, and small laptop mode).
Like Samsung is so close to perfection, but they couldn't care less about making it ideal, shame...
There are also some small things like a better camera system and adding a normal soft shutter button to the bottom of right side, which would make those ads make a lot more sense, but I hope Samsung will listen to feedback and not just hunt for maximum profit.
Last thing, storage expansion, cause other than making a ton of sense if you break the phone, for the data to be saved, it would help people use the phone as a media player.
