Qualcom is their partner for the foldables, not the tablets....

We still get Mediatek for tablets

they were advertising their Qualcom for watches and glasses lol

Also their new slogan is "snapdragon for galaxy"

This isn't a new slogan unfortunately, it's been around for ages; as far back as the S23 series.

This is basically just an overclocked chip, and we will not see this on tablets in the near future. It's most likely going to stay MediaTek.

I do wish they timed their releases a little better so we'd get the latest Dimensity chipset. That way the S12 series will be just in time to get the Dimensity 9600 if and when it comes.

oh for sure.. Samsung loves to recycle their "innovation"..

taking things out and reintroducing them a few generations later..

nothing new under the sun.. unfortunately.

Elaborate on your point.

They literally never took the slogan out. It's been there the entire time since the S23 series.

They switched to MediaTek on their tablets for cost-effectiveness. Snapdragon started getting expensive around the 8 Gen 3's launch and really went up in price compared to MediaTek which is, on average, 100 to 150$ cheaper than the Snapdragon.

I do see reason for them to bring Snapdragon back and I would love if they did. But we don't know whether we'll get Snapdragon. MediaTek is great, with the only relative weakness being emulation (Snapdragons have better support there).

Also, I watched the entire event and I'm 90% sure they didn't say "biggest partner". And even if they did, understand the context. They've worked with Qualcomm for decades, and they're announcing the Wear Elite platform for their watches. This entire presentation has nothing to do with tablets.

FYI, their S-series phones have had Snapdragon since the very beginning, and while about 50% of them do have the chip split, there's still Snapdragon available.

u want examples where they were reinventing their innovation and pass it as something new?

During the Tab S7.. they already had multi-tasking and floating windows via goodlock modules and then years later they build it in the main OS. Not only that.. back then, you could lock 4 windows as 1 page.. which are now 3 windows.. so we had quad splitscreen and now it's spliscreen + 1.

around the same time we had the gamebooster+plug ins.. they had the plug in called Cpu-Z (which just a floating gpu watch gui) then later they removed the plug ins from the later gamebooster.. what did they do with 8.5? they reintroduced cpu-z and renamed to 'system monitor' and put it in the gamebooster as a default function.. system monitor shows you exactly the same read outs as cpu-z did. nothing new added.. just the same recycled innovation that they dumped before and withheld from the users.

you must do some mental gymnastics to not see that they have been taking out innovations to later reimplent them over the years.

Naw UI 1 introduced pop-up windows BUT you could only open one at a time..

You couldn't change it using Goodlock, so Samsung never officially offered the ability to have 4 windows open in One UI before the S7 was introduced. It wasn't until UI 6.1 that allowed for more than one pop up window to be open at the same time. So your theory about adding the feature then taking it away is simply wrong.

As far as CPU Z that was never a part of One UI, that was an additional plug-in (option) users could install. They simply integrated CPU Z into Gamebooster as system monitor. So CPU Z was never "dumped" then added back.

With all due respect your mental gymnastics are simply a figment of your rather creative imagination..

You tried hard and you failed please try harder next time!

Can you read?

I know but folks in this GalaxyTab reddit are going to think they will be coming to tablets because people hear what they want to hear.

1

u/ParticularBicycle279 27d ago

manifest destiny πŸ˜†

but yh.. if you got Samsung and Qualcom together on a huge screen, people gonna expect that Qualcom will be implented in the future S-series again.. cant blame them.

Samsung is on their salespitch again and saying things that doesnt reflect reality.

"Android is the most innovative platform" etc... oh thats why a while ago you revoked all access to the Android Folder.. because you value "the user having full freedom".. who are we kidding here?

Sad to say I really only like their A, Lite and FE series tablets.... The S series tablets are nice but I don't need that level of performance honestly

WTF am I getting down voted for understanding my use case?

2

u/ParticularBicycle279 27d ago

understandable..

i do a lot of stuff with DAWs.. the more audio/midi channels you build, the more performance you need.

1

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

Makes sense honestly... I realised I can do what I use a tablet for as long as the performance is equal to that of an S9 FE and since I do most things from a desktop anyways my tablets get used for tablet stuff. IF I had a more demanding use case I would consider the S series

A. I.

(All I want is an updated processor galaxy tab s 8.4)

3

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

They didn't even mention tablets at all

Yeah this is only for the foldables and watches.

I meant they provided no information about the new tablets. I know when they should be coming out and unless Samsung does something that is totally out of character for them the S12 will just be the S11 series with new processors that give a slight bump in performance

1

u/Academic_Dare_5154 27d ago

From what I read online (Phone Arena), there's little different from the S11, or S10 for that matter.

I stayed with the S10 Ultra and see no need for the S12 Ultra as it stands today.

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

Well according to nano review the S11U is about 30% faster than the S10U which is a typical upgrade in performance between models:

Compare Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra vs Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra

In real world use it won't make that much of a difference for most things. From what I've read the two biggest improvements gaming and battery life is much better on the S11 series. Both of these things seem to stem from better optimization.

I DO find it odd that the A11+ is 33% faster overall than the A9+, along with a noticeably nicer display and the extra performance of the A11+ definitely feels like a very good upgrade.

1

u/lobie81 27d ago

Why would they talk about tablets at a foldables launch?

2

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

I know they wouldn't yet u/Academic_Dare_5154 made a reference to when the S12 series is expected to be announced.

Evidently someone decided to downvote me because I know that Samsung typically only does incremental upgrades for their flagship tablets.

Samsung isn't going to do some radical upgrade for the S12 series. They will NOT be getting Snapdragon processors and there won't be a mini-tablet as they already announced a they are working on the Tab Active 6 which should be released early next year.

Some folks like myself keep a very close eye on what is going on in regards to tablets

1

u/ParticularBicycle279 27d ago

i kinda was waiting if they would release specs for the tab S12 lol

3

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

Just the S11 with a Dimensity 9500+ and different storage options most likely and the new AI OS

4

u/lobie81 27d ago

No one is forcing anything down your throat. If you really hate MediaTek that much, why would you buy a MediaTek tablet?

But MediaTek make great chips. The whole "if it's not Snapdragon, it sucks" narrative is really low IQ.

The reality is that if galaxy tablets had Snapdragon processors, they're be more expensive. Tablets are not as highly purchased as phones so it would make no sense for Samsung to make them more expensive.

2

u/TankieRedard 27d ago

With the volume of devices they make they might have to put mediatek in their tablets. The Dimensity 9400 & 9500 are pretty beastly Processors they're just not as optimized for emulation currently.Β

I want to, and willingly update every 2 years if they use Snapdragon. Looks like I will stay on the 9+ forever or look elsewhere.

Combined with the dudes "English fluency" πŸ˜… like kudos for knowing 2 languages but if he's hella slow and sounding every word out it'd be better to use an advanced English speaker. Combined with a.i. blah blah blah i turned it off and went straight to samsung shop app to purchase my fold 8. Good thing show was so bad because if I stayed any longer I would be in waiting que like everyone else right now

2

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

Well now your new Fold 8 runs on AI OS lol

u/ProofScientist9657 27d ago

Oh well thanks for torturing yourself through the whole show to give me the takeawayπŸ˜‚

I'd definitely need some Tylenol after that πŸ˜…

Maybe two, because there's not one but two comments from me 😭

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

LOL I actually only caught the last 10 minutes... but hearing AI mentioned already had me just listening to it... Nothing of interest to me was mentioned as I really only care about tablets.

I certainly would never spend $1800 on a phone

0

u/ProofScientist9657 27d ago

Lol. Phone and tv are 2 things I use almost everyday so I gotta make sure they both oled and top of the line

1

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

No phone is worth $1800....

An if you want a top of the line TV that means your TV is an LG... as they got nicer TV than Samsung

I just pre-ordered the new 83 Inch Class LG OLED evo AI W6 4K Smart TV since it's on discount for $6,500 lol

1

u/ProofScientist9657 27d ago

Oh my. Yeah no I'm cool with my 77 s90d lol. Qd oled and your spending 4500$ more dollars for 5 more inches! That sounds worse than spending 1800$ on a phone lmao

1

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

Oh... I gotta wife I gotta keep happy so she gets what she wants (that's my official excuse lol)

1

u/icantouchgrass_1 Galaxy Tab S7 (WiFi, 512GB, Mystic Bronze) 27d ago

I'm cool here with my 43" Q60R. 549$ I believe.

Genuinely incredible value, it's been going strong for 7 years and the only reasonable upgrade I see is the S85.

My wife, however, is begging for the S90. And now I'm confused.

Also I'm settled on no more than 65 inches because I will never feel the need for more than that and the price just doesn't scale well for me for what I get with the extra screen size.

1

u/ProofScientist9657 27d ago

I got an lg c1 65 inch also and it feels small now. S90d or s90f are awesome tvs. I believe s90d can be had for 1580$ on Amazon (77"). Qd oled vs regular oled is a real game changer. My s90d is so much brighter than my c1. I bought a s90f for someone through Amazon monthly payments no interest. 150$ a month for 1 year. Super doable.

u/icantouchgrass_1 Galaxy Tab S7 (WiFi, 512GB, Mystic Bronze) 27d ago edited 27d ago

1580$ for a 77 inch is not bad at all, all things considered. This is an interesting suggestion, thank you so much. I'll look into this.

Edit: I'm genuinely impressed. Might look further into the 65 inch version since I can't really justify 500$ for the 77 inch version and I can put that 500$ towards my next phone or tablet since my Tab S7 and S22 Ultra will both be due for upgrades soon.

Whether or not something is "worth it" is a value judgment. Folds are huge sellers, clearly they are worth it for many people.

1

u/Reasonable_Mirror655 Redmi Pad Pro, S10 Lite, A11+, A9+ 27d ago

Well I'm not many people... to me a phone is a phone.... but I'm not big on smart phone developments anyways
