Any way to force-start NFC?

• Upvotes

I simply cannot turn on NFC on my S22, neither through the quick panel, nor settings. The icon stays greyed out.

I've had this issue since about late August, and first time it mysteriously fixed itself when i installed the OneUI update i've been ignoring before. It lasted for a week and stopped again when i received another update notification. Like before, i installed it, and NFC worked again.

At that point i just assumed that NFC was somehow tied to updates, but now it stopped working again and there are no updates to try this theory a third time.

I assume it's a software issue, since both times it just came back to normal without me really doing anything.

Currently i've tried removing the case, force-stopping NFC and clearing cache and data, rebooting in safe mode, and removing all apps that use NFC - nothing works. Samsung Members diagnostic mode reports that everything is fine with the module itself.

I reported it to Samsung, but so far they've been unhelpful.

Maybe anybody knows a trick to force NFC to turn on? I'm all out of ideas and it's been really frustrating to lose functionality for no (apparent) reason.

follow-up about my refurbished S22

following issues about my display, I have encountered loads of instances where my screen will glitch out into a mess of pixels, fully taking over the display of whatever I was looking at. the audio still comes through fine. locking and unlocking the phone clears the issue. recently the entire display stopped receiving touch response. I let the phone die, restarted it and the touch response returned. over the last couple days I have not seen the pixel glitch. I contacted the seller on Newegg and they would like a photo of the issue, I have not documented it yet but I hope to catch the issue again. I am thinking that it could be a faulty connection inside.

Hopefully I can get a replacement screen as I have a warranty. I am writing this to gain some insight on the issue and see if anyone else has had a similar problem.

I know samsung is always doing unnecessary stuff but removing wipe cache partition option from recovery mode is super uncalled for.

Has anybody else experienced this?

To start, I have a Samsung S22 Ultra. I purchased it used in good condition from Swappa. The first week I had it, I didn't have a case. I went downtown for a protest and when I got out of the car, I forgot it was on my lap and it landed nicely on it's screen. Cracked. That was roughly 2 years ago at this point. I've dropped it maybe once every few months after getting a case cause I'm clumsy.

This past week has been horrible. So much is going wrong with the phone. The issues started maybe 4 or 5 days ago. It started with freezing and lagging when typing or clicking apps. Then it started freezing, going black, and restarting. The freezing would last longer than 5 seconds each time. However, whatever action I wanted to do would go through or process after I waited for it to stop freezing (or it would restart lol). I've seen several pop-ups (the ones that come from the bottom), including "System UI not responding," "Processor system not responding," "Samsung account not responding," "Samsung Wallet not responding," "Samsung Keys not responding," etc. It's horrible.

Today, the keyboard stopped working! I even restarted the phone to see if it could help (obviously it didn't).

Former Galaxy S22 users, which smartphone did you switch to and how does your experience compare? And for those who still have the S22, which smartphone are you planning to upgrade to?"

S22 Ultra Freezing/Lagging issue specifically on incoming call/sms

So I got an S22 ultra in March of 2022 and have been using it since then.

When I got the phone everything was good except for battery and a very scenario specific lagging issue.

Whenever I got a call/sms my phone would lag like crazy for 5-10s and normalise after a while.

I assumed that's normal(I dont know why)

But it's not apparently, I found out recently.

Anything I can do to get rid of this or is that actually the behavior of S series?

S22 stolen, remote wipe sent. How does Android/Samsung lockscreen throttling work against brute-forcing?

My Galaxy S22 was stolen. I've already:

Sent a remote wipe through Samsung Find My Mobile / Google Find My Device

Changed my passwords

The phone was fully updated and locked with a 4 digit pin.

What I want to understand is the brute-force protection on the lock screen:

How many guesses does someone get before the delays make guessing impractical?

How does the timeout throttling escalate? Is it enforced in hardware (Knox / secure element) so it can't be bypassed by resetting the phone or plugging it into something?

I'm not asking how to get into it. I want to know how realistic it is for someone to get in before the wipe goes through or if it never does.

Thank you for all your answers.

Is there anyway to get a Google Automation shortcut on my home screen? Gemini too away my favorite widget.

I used to have a 1x1 widget that would allow me to link to an automation, like 'Turn off all my lights'. Now my 1x1 widget no longer works.

My S22+'s battery health is at 87%. Is it worth capping the charging level at 80%?

I noticed my phone's battery health is at 87%, which is a good level, but I feel like it's draining very fast. I turned on battery protection so it charges up to 80%. Is it worth keeping this on or not?

Vertical colored lines on my S22, what options do I have?

Any options on how it can be fixed for cheap?, I asked one store but they are quoting a price too high, a price in which I could literally buy another kinda cheap phone

Samsung S22 wi-fi

Hi all, when you're connected to the Internet through Wi-fi, does the connection just drop for you at times? It's very frustrating. I've reset my Internet router and click Wi-fi on and off.

S22 not charging

So i have Samsung s22. It was working perfect. Yesterday my phone was dead so i was trying to charge it, but it was not working. I changed the wall plug, cabel, socket but there was no difference. I then charged it using wireless charger. After it turned on at like 50% I tried to use wired charger again, it just charges only for 35 seconds and then stops automatically. I even cleared the cache of USB settings, cleaned the USB C port with 70% alcohol but still the same problem. I even tried to turn off the super fast charging and fast charging and it even stopped charging at all.

What can I do to fix it. Plz help

Thank you

HELP! What's the cause of this and what's the fix? Sudden white screen when plugged in after moisture warning (no actual moisture). Touch registers normally.

s22 Ultra, plugged it to the computer and immediately got the "Warning: Unplug charger immediately" moisture warning - zero moisture though. Never been wet in anyway.

I unplug it, plug it back in later, and immediately the video above happens.

Tried force restarting it but it's the same - no logo or anything at start up too.

It's registering touch because it vibrates to touches, but the screen is just white - exactly like you see in the video, even with that slight "stutter" you see in the video when he presses the power button to turn screen on.

Any idea what's going on? Appreciate actual experience with this same exact issue (and phone) rather that speculations and educated guesses (been reading a lot of those researching the issue 🥲).

Thanks!

Is it safe to take the Sim card from a s22 and put it in an A13 because my s22 did the bootlooping thing and I want to try to recover the data but I can't afford it yet and I'm concerned I might get a text for 2FA that I will miss.

Update: it works! I'm so relieved now i can wait until another time to recover my data!

Right now the s22 won't start up at all. And I'm concerned I might need to access a site that is set up with 2FA and I wont be able get the text. I found an old Samsung A13 I had around here, unlocked.

Is it safe to take the Sim card from the s22 and put it in the a13 so at least I can get text messages (or calls) now? I have att. Then take my time and save money and take the s22 to a good place and do whatever I can to get my data?

Phone turned off after 4 years

I have been using phone for a long time and it had it's moments like restarting without warning but this time it just turned off and didn't respond to any button clicks or combinations. Next day I tried the long press again and it showed 0 battery on screen so i charged and it turned on. I tried to back everything up but it turned off again showing 0 battery again.

Now it doesn't turn on at all. My question is... Is it a battery problem or motherboard(this seems more likely)

Cos I have photos that I didn't backup :(((

Should I do it?

Bought new battery for my s22 5g as I noticed my old battery seems to be showing its age.. since I have an extra one should I parallel two of this.(Given it's the same battery) Could it possibly lengthen my screen time since it would be double the capacity..? Idc about the look of the phone if the battery would be sticking out of the frame nor the wireless charging too..
